CANADIAN SUPERDOG Canadian Superdog is a very special honor that recognizes the overall versatility of the Portuguese Water Dog by requiring participation in a variety of events. To be eligible for Canadian Superdog, dogs must be entered and compete in at least three of the five areas of competition: conformation, obedience, agility, water, and rally. The scoring system has been adopted from PWDCA with minimal changes because the competition takes place within All Breed CKC trials. If All-breed Trials are being utilized, scores will only be considered by the day designated for PWD awards in the premium. This award will be handed out at the banquet dinner. Scoring for Canadian Superdog: 1) CONFORMATION Points are given in all classes that are eligible for Best of Breed First place = 4 points, second-place = 3 points, third-place =2 points, fourth-place = 1 point Best in show gets 6 point total. Award of merit, best of winners, best of opposite sex, select dog, select bitch, winners dog, winners bitch, will receive 5 points total Note: A dog with 2 placements will take the points for the higher win. For example, if a dog takes first place in his class and then takes winners dog, the dog will be given the points for winners dog only 2) OBEDIENCE Regular classes Novice A, Novice B, Open A, Open B, Utility A, Utility B - o Dogs must receive a qualifying score from the judge to earn points from these classes (minimum 170 score out of 200). These classes may or may not be offered at the All-breed Obedience Trial and are therefore not eligible for Superdog. If more than one day of obedience trials are offered, scores will only be considered by the day designated for PWD awards. 10

Example of point calculation: In Novice B there are 6 PWD s competing in the All Breed Trial. They obtained the following scores: Fluffy 190, Bobby 185, Sam 180, Fred 175, Sleepy 174, Snoozy 173, Notty 165(NQ). Fluffy gets 4 points, Bobby gets 3 points, Sam gets 2 points, Fred gets 1 point, Sleepy and Snoozy each get.5 point, and Notty gets 0. The ribbons that these PWD s might achieve in the All Breed trial are irrelevant to calculating Superdog points. 3) RALLY Dogs must receive a qualifying score from the judge to earn points for Superdog (minimum 70 score out of 100). The PWD s with qualifying scores in each of these regular classes will be ranked by score 1 st 4th.
