PCA 58 th National Specialty Dixon, California October 24-28, 2013 PCA s National Specialty will indeed be a special weekend. The show is at the Dixon May Fairgrounds in Dixon, site of PCA s 2009 National. This year, the host hotel is in Vacaville, about a 15 minute drive from the show grounds and a short drive to Napa Valley, California s special area that produces great wines. Thursday starts out with a Board meeting, Judges Education, and in the evening a Welcome Get-together at the hotel followed by Member Education. Dr. Wendy Wallace will talk about Structure in Action. The National is on Friday, as part of the Northern California Herding Group Association s Herding Group show. We ll start with Sweepstakes, and we re fortunate to have Susan Maass judging. If your Puli has a Herding Title, you can compete not only in our National show judged by Pat Laurans, but in the Herding Titled class. On the same day, we ll have Puli-only Obedience and Rally. That night, we ll have the PCA Annual Dinner at the hotel. On Saturday and Sunday, we ll have Designated Specialties in conjunction with the Sacramento Valley Dog Fanciers Association s all-breed shows. PCA will also host an all-breed Agility Trial at the park next to the fairgrounds, within walking distance, and of course there will be all-breed Obedience and Rally Trials on the weekend. Saturday night we will again host the now famous California Wine & Cheese Party. It was fun in 2005, and again in 2009. We hope to out-do ourselves this year! We ll wrap up on Monday with Herding Tests (Instinct, HT and PT) in nearby Vacaville (where we were in 2009). It s a great chance to see if your Puli has herding instinct, or to work on an HT or PT title. Brent Miller, WineCountry.com
