NON-MEMBER DOT I would like to thank my instructors for this past session. Steve Wheeler, Dean Lund, Sharon Cullman, Natasha Kersjes. A big thanks to Bonnie Kellams for selling leashes and collars. Thanks, Diane Townsend Tracking News NEW TRACKING COORDINATOR - Starting in January of 2018 Marlene Hill will be taking over the running of the Tracking Program for FWOTC. After 10 years of heading up the program with much help from devoted volunteers, Pam Johnson is retiring from the daily ongoing responsibilities that this job requires. This program gives back to the sport of tracking and brings good will to our club. Folks love our tests and enjoy the opportunity to test their dogs to achieve the tracking titles. Please give your full support to Marlene as she navigates the ins and outs of running tracking tests, seminars, workshops, classes, and fun matches. Having tracking as part of our offering to the fancy brings another important dimension to our club s versatility. On May 13-14 FWOTC offered a TDX - Tracking Dog Excellent - workshop at Summit Lake State Park in New Castle Indiana. Tracking Judge Sandy McMillan from Rochester IL was our presenter and what a fabulous job she did. Pete Johnson took care of all the food, kept us hydrated with lots of water, and laid all the tracks for this 2 day workshop. Pam Johnson did all the coordinating that included getting the site, ordering up some fine weather, and provided a fun relaxing weekend for those attending. Marlene Hill helped out on Saturday with getting Pete back and forth to this tracks, along with helping attendees get to their tracks. We had folks from Muncie, Carmel, Kokomo, Markle, Huntertown, Chattanooga Tennessee, and Indianapolis. We had 6 working spots offered each day, along with unlimited audit spots. Everyone came away with a renewed respect for the difficulty of TDX components, but with Sandy s great instruction, learned ways to work their dogs through these challenges. All in all a fabulous weekend. We are trying to get Sandy back for another one next year. On April 23 2017 FWOTC held our spring VST test on our new sites at IPFW and Ivy Tech North. These sites were perfect for our test. Big shout out to our volunteers as without them we could not put on these tests. Event chair, test secretary, and head tracklayer Pam Johnson; Tracklayers Bill Johnston, Kim Kearfott, Kelly Urick, Vanessa Scott, Roni Hoff, Michael Farley and Maugh Vail. Judges drive Pete Johnson. Photographer Cheryl Ertelt. Food Marlene Hill. Tracklayer driver Pat Eckstein. Judges Ed Presnall and Salle Richards put in some lovely VST tracks. Several dogs got close but we had no passes. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 30 2017 AND/OR SUNDAY OCTOBER 1 2017. This fall FWOTC will offer again our VST test on our new site at IPFW and Ivy Tech North. We will train new people to do any of the jobs needed to make this test run smoothly. Come out and learn about tracking with a front row seat to watch the dogs and handlers. Volunteer to be a tracklayer and work with the judges on Saturday and Sunday. We can use you any of the times you have available either or both days. Contact Pam Johnson at blackyellowlabs10@gmail.com if you want to help. PRACTICE AND CLUB BUILDING The building is open for obedience practice only on Tuesdays and Wednesday from 9 am to 6 pm. You may practice at this time without contacting anyone. When you go out, please sign the book and adjust the heating/ac as needed. Please be courteous to others and use only one ring at a time.
