Rally Teams! Teams will be made up of 4 dogs -- Dogs who have completed AKC Rally Advanced (RA), Rally Excellent (RE), and/or Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE) titles by the close of entries must show off leash. Dogs with AKC Rally Novice (RN) or no AKC Rally titles may show on leash. Course layout, size, and design will be in accordance with AKC standards. Judges will be invited to create challenging, fun courses that are appropriate for the sport of Rally. Judges will be allowed to use any Novice Rally signs approved by the AKC (signs 1-36). Judges will be asked to place the start and finish signs in a clearly visible location on the course to ensure that the second through fourth handlers on each team are able to appropriately gauge when to begin their run. Scoring, Placements, and Prizes: Each team begins with 400 points (100 points for each dog/handler). In general, scoring will be accomplished consistent with AKC guidelines. Points are deducted from each dog s total of 100 points to arrive at a net score for the run; after the run, the team will receive a total score consisting of the summed scores for each dog/handler. There will be no non-qualifying scores. In other words, all dogs will leave the ring with a score ranging from 0 to 100. Handlers and/or dogs who are excused receive zero (0) points. Time to complete the Rally course will be recorded to 1/100 of a second. Timing for each team will start when the judge commands the first handler in the team to begin with the command Forward and will stop when the fourth handler from the team passes the finish line. Handlers on each team run consecutively, such that the second and third handlers begin the course (pass the start sign) when the handler before them passes the finish line. Note: Handlers who start early (who pass the start sign before the preceding handler and dog have completed the course and crossed the finish line) will be penalized under handler error After all team members have been judged, their total score and time will be computed, and placements will be determined as per AKC team rules. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians' recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations.
