OUR JUDGE MRS LEANA LEWIS My first judging appointment was on the 24th February 1985 for Rottweilers. Since then I have judged all the Working Group and Pastoral Group at Open level, some Bull Breeds, Spitz, Toys and Utility. My first CC appointment was on the 8th October 1992 for Rottweilers, which I have judged approximately every two years since. I also award CCs in Great Danes and Bullmastiffs in the Working Group and my first Championship Working Group appointment was in Belfast in 2016. I am also approved to judge the Working Group in 2018. In the Pastoral Group I award CCs in Briards, Lancashire Heelers, Hungarian Pulis and Norwegian Buhunds. In the Utility Group I award CCs to Akitas. I have passed the Judges Development Programme with Credit in Belgian Shepherds and was awarded a Distinction for Border Collies. I judged Tibetan Mastiffs at Working & Pastoral Breeds Association of Wales

RULES & REGULATIONS 1. The Show will open at 11.30 am. 2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitor's responsibility to ensure that dogs are available for judging when required. 3. Entry Fees: Members 8.00 unlimited classes per dog. Non-Members 9.00 unlimited classes per dog. Not for Competition: 1.00 per dog. Catalogues: 3.00 pre-paid with entries ( 3.50 on the day). Membership: Single 10.50; Joint 12.50; Family 15.00, Overseas 15.00. Rosette donation: 5.00 per class. 6. There is no prize money on offer at this Show. 7. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries. 8. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition. 9. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden. 10. Best Puppy in Show: Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Show. Where the Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Show. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best in Show. 11. Best in Show: Best in Show must be selected from the exhibits declared Best of Sex but only if they have received a first prize in a class at the same show. If a Reserve Best in Show is to be selected, the eligible dogs are those declared Best Opposite Sex and the Reserve Best of Sex to the exhibit declared Best in Show. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show must not compete in any subsequent competition. 12. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management. 13. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 14. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 15. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.

Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 18. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 19. The Show will be held under Kennel Club Rules and Show Regulations. Every exhibitor making an entry or entries at this Show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by these Rules and Regulations and it is on this understanding only that entries are received. 20. The Club reserves the right to exclude or remove any dog which is, owing to disease, savage disposition or any other cause, not in a fit state for exhibition. In such circumstances the entrance fee will be forfeited. 21. Should a judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement, the Committee reserve the right to appoint another to fulfil his/her duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition but no entry fees will be returned. 22. A Judge's decision shall be final except in a case of fraud or misrepresentation or where a mistake has been made bona fide by the judge. 23. The Committee will not in any way be responsible for any loss, injury or damage arising out of the holding of the Show whether as a result of accident or any other cause, nor any act or omission of themselves, their officers, agents, servants or others and it is on this understanding only that entries are received. 24. Should any question arise not provided for in these regulations, the decision of the Committee shall be final, subject only to appeal to the Kennel Club. 25. No animal other than those entered at the Show will be allowed within the precincts of the Show. 26. Judges are empowered and instructed to withhold the prize(s) in any class if, in their opinion, the dog(s) do not possess sufficient merit. 27. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. 28. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event). 29. A dog may be disqualified by the Board from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees. 30. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.
