ELIGIBILITY The AWTA recognizes these breeds for competition in den trials: Australian, Bedlington, Border, Cairn, Cesky, Dandie Dinmont, Fell, Fox, Glen of Imaal, Jack Russell, PRT, Russell, Lakeland, Norwich, Norfolk, Patterdale, Scottish, Sealyham, Skye, Welsh, and West Highland White terriers, Jagd terrier and Dachshunds. Any individual Feist, Rat terrier, terrier cross, dachshund cross or terrier of a breed not mentioned above who is of suitable size to fit in a nine inch artificial earth may also be entered in den trials. CLASSES OFFERED Novice A: For dogs and bitches under 12 months of age that have not earned 100% in the Novice Class. Novice B: For dogs and bitches 12 months of age and over that have not earned 100% in the Novice Class Open: For dogs and bitches that have scored 100% in the Novice Class or worked in a similar artificial earth or have worked to ground in a natural earth. Certificate: For dogs and bitches that have passed the OPEN class and received the Certificate of Gameness Award. This class is provided for dogs that live in areas where natural quarry is limited or nonexistent or have participated in other Earthdog events. Certificate Advanced: For dogs entered that are working for qualifying scores for 5 Certificate Classes, and handlers who keep track of the classes entered, the trial name, location and date of trial, to be submitted to AWTA Trial Secretary for verification upon receiving a passing score in 5 Certificate class AWARDS Novice: A ribbon is to be given to each dog that qualifies in either Novice A or Novice B Open: A ribbon and a flask are given to each dog earning a qualifying score Certificate: Ribbons may be given to the top qualifiers by breed or category, in the Certificate Classes Top Performance in Division: Ribbon to the dog the Judge would take hunting today.
DATE: November 10, 11, 2018 AWTA DEN TRIAL EXHIBITORS NOTICE LOCATION: Nelson Grove, Woodland CA, With the Border Terrier Club of the Redwoods. RUNNING ORDER: Dogs in all classes will be run in the order in which the entries are received. Multiple entries by the same owner will be separated to expedite a smooth running of the tests. Running Order will be posted. Dogs not ready to run when called will be oved to the end of the running order. Orientation prior to judging of each class will be given by the Judge. Bitches in season shall not be eligible to enter test. If the bitch comes in season after entries are received, entry will be refunded. If the dog qualifies of the Certificate of Gameness Award, owner needs to be a member of AWTA within 30 days of the trial date. Membership form will be available at the trial desk. Tests will be held rain or shine. Bring protection from the elements. The Border Terrier Club of the Redwoods offers coffee & muffins in the morning and a POT LUCK LUNCH is planned for both Saturday and Sunday, so please bring something to share. Friday there will be a BBQ--BYOP (Bring-your-own-protein) and a side to share potluck dinner. Saturday: We re having The traditional cookout BBQ. Choice of grilled ribs or chicken. Sides will include Potato Casserole, Green Salad, BBQ Beans, and Garlic Bread. The cost will be $10. Dig-in/Preparation helpers on Friday will receive a free dinner Saturday night!! Earthdog Training Clinics WHEN: Friday after dig in, and Saturday after Den Trials Once again, the BTCR will offer a training clinic after dig-in on Friday afternoon and after the trial closes on Saturday if time allows. Several experienced trainers and
judges will offer training tips, introduce young dogs to the quarry, and work on challenges you may be having with more experienced dogs. Just come Friday or Saturday and sign-up with Mary Powell at the sign-in desk. Estimated start times: Friday, 11/9/18, 3pm Saturday, 11/10/18 - immediately following close of PM trial Cost: Introduction to Rats (above ground work) FREE! Bring treats or toys for dogs. Workshop Runs (all below ground work, intro, junior, senior and masters)--$5 each. You will get individual time with a judge/trainer and an opportunity to work on whatever problems you may be having in getting your next Q. Exciting news!. BIG CHANGES EARTHDOG JUST GOT EVEN BETTER at Nelson s Grove, Woodland. In addition to offering the usual two AKC Earthdog tests each day, we ll be partnering with The American Working Terrier (AWTA) Club. Yes, our terriers and dachshunds will have another opportunity to go to ground and earn titles. Membership in AWTA is optional, and can be done within 30 days of qualifying for a title in order to earn official recognition.
