REASONS TO SUPPORT THE BARK BALL The Bark Ball gets bigger and better every year, generating an exciting amount of media coverage (see attached), including The Georgetowner/The Downtowner, DC Magazine, Washington Life Magazine, Washingtonian, and Bizbash Magazine, as well as numerous segments on regional Washington TV news. As a sponsor of the 23rd Annual Bark Ball, your name will be heavily promoted and recognized along with this respected event. The Bark Ball will benefit thousands of homeless, lost, and abused animals in the Nation s Capital. The Washington Humane Society provides comfort and care to more than 30,000 animals each year though its broad range of programs and services, including: sheltering, adoption, humane law enforcement, spay and neuter, humane education, training and behavior, human animal programs, and lost and found services. The only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the country, the Washington Humane Society enforces DC anti-cruelty statues and protects all of the District s animal residents. The Bark Ball is an exciting and wonderful evening; a great way to thank employees or entertain business partners in a unique setting all to benefit a great cause. It is also a great opportunity to associate your organization with the Washington Humane Society. Our donors are exceptionally brand loyal and take pride in supporting the organizations that support the WHS. The Bark Ball highlights the hard work and dedication that goes into the many diverse programs of the Washington Humane Society, such as Dog Tags and PACK (People & Animal Cardio Klub) Through Dog Tags, healing soldiers from Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital train WHS shelter dogs for adoption and acquire new skills for themselves. This mutually-enriching training program is amazingly therapeutic for both the soldiers and the dogs. The unconditional affection of the dogs helps these soldiers deal with self consciousness, physical injury, and emotional trauma, while they return the favor to the animals, who become more adoptable through their work. The PACK program brings together runners throughout the region who exercise shelter dogs in local parks, while taking care of themselves at the same time. The PACK gives the dogs an enriching time away from the shelter that they can run and enjoy the outdoors. The runners who participate get their exercise while also receiving the benefit of knowing they have provided an important outlet for the dogs.
