Page 2 Letter from the President A Big Shout Out!!! This past week I realized one more time how lucky I was to have a significant other who truly supports me and is a partner in every way in my passion for the Cavalier breed. Juhan and I had looked forward for months to attending the COTW Denver show together as we spent many years in and about Denver skiing with our two children back in the day. We really looked forward to joining our COTW friends in this fun city. However, our Cavalier Rachel had other plans! She decided that the Labor Day weekend was the perfect time to whelp puppies so our decision was made by a little Cavalier. I would not be attending the show. If we were to participate, it was all up to Juhan. He agreed to go to Denver and show our girl. No hesitation, he just said yes! Now, it is important to know that this is the same man who told me 10 years ago that, he would rather wash and wax his car with his tongue than ever show a dog! Not only did he fly there, groom her and do all the things I would have done but, he did it well and without complaint. That led me to realize that we owe a big shout out to so many people in our lives that support us and share our passion for this breed. So my President s Letter this quarter is a Shout Out dedicated to all those in our lives who back us up, support us and are there day after day helping us breed, groom, feed, show and care for our dogs. Or, in the case of so many, a shout out to those who support us by caring for our home and our families so we can go to shows, attend board meetings and be a part of all things Cavaliers. This may be your spouse, your significant other, your children or a friend. It may be your dog nanny who stays with your babies while you travel to a show. The veterinarian who gets up in the middle of the night to meet you at his office. It may be a friend from the club who is there on the phone at 2 am with you, talking you down when you are dealing with a difficult whelping or sick dog. You know who you are and so do we! You are all so important to what we do and we probably do not say thank you nearly as often as we should. I hope that each and every one of you who reads this letter will let those people in your lives know how much they are a part of this club. They may not always be at events physically but, they are there in everything you do. So, today I say a collective thank you! You are the ones who make us successful! Your support is what gives us the ability to do what we love to do. Without you having our back, we would be in a very difficult place. We would have to make a lot of choices about what we could and could not do with our dogs. So thank you for giving us the help we need to be able to love these Cavaliers and accomplish our dreams. Thank you all, Pat Mixon President COS

2019 May COS Specialty Auction / Donations Needed! This is a very EARLY request, but we need our member s help and support for our 2019 MAY COS Specialty auctions & raffles. The live and silent auctions we hold at the May show are one of our club s major fundraisers. It has become increasingly difficult to solicit donated items from vendors and businesses and we have been relying on our club member s donations for the past two years. For 2018, we have literally no stash left for our silent auction. If you have something that you feel would be great for our LIVE auction or you know of a vendor who can donate an item or service for our live auction, please let me know. We are also looking to have people donate little trinkets for our raffle. This was such a fun raffle during the show and we would like to continue this new tradition! Anything would be appreciated! Leads, combs, brushes, toys, cavalier tchotchkes, anything! Please let Paula Ayers or Brenda Martz know that you can donate! Please feel free to email me (Sharon Utych) at utych@earthlink.net if you can help out with donations! We need YOUR help! Parading at the National Be sure to watch the very special parades at the National! On Saturday, after Best Veteran in Show we will hold our Parade of Veterans. Cheer on these beautiful and handsome senior representatives of our precious breed as their story is read. On Sunday, there will be a Parade of Performance Champions. These cavaliers are very special indeed as they are almost like Superman, where they can run like the wind, leap tall gates with a single bound, perform awesome tricks and obedience work! Cheer on these hardworking and amazing cavaliers and show your support for our Performance cavaliers! Page 5
