Have you heard? From Deb St. Myers: On April 12, A very Big event happened in Santa Rosa at the Mensona Kennel Club Agility Trial. Yes! Our Miss "Zazzy" (CH.MACH.Agate's Zazz Affair MXS,MJB, OF,T2B, BHN.) earned her Master Agility Championship Award. We have been working on this for all of her 5 years. She had to do it in her own time, not her Mom's time. Zazzy also ran in the Barn Hunt and earned her Novice Barn Hunt Title and earned her 1rst leg on her Open Barn Hunt title. This is our first Dual Champion. Two weeks later we went on to our English Cocker Spaniel Club of America trial in WI.,after driving 2500 miles, to make a noticeable mark for our name in the 2 day agility trials. There were 165 entries at this trial, all Eng. Cockers. Both Zazzy and her Mom "Sienna" (MACH Quinlan's Burnt Sienna MXG,MJG,T2B,XF) had very nice runs and placed (Many First Places) in every run they were entered in. Both girls earned new agilitytitles at these trials, Zazzy -Excellent Fast, Sienna -Master Jumpers Gold. We are now well on our way towards qualifying to go to the Reno AKC Agility National Finals in March of next year. Hoping to get in a FIRST litter of puppies for Zazzy this Winter. It"s about time for puppies around here. We just had to get some of these important accomplishments before babies. Most all of this litter of puppies have homes awaiting. Zazzy has a big following in the English Cocker World LCKC May 2014 5

Remembering Kaelyn In April, we lost our funny, happy girl Kaelyn to post operative bleeding following a spay. We decided to spay because her troublesome and frequent false pregnancies were effecting her quality of life and making her a pyometra risk. Knowing that post op bleeding can be a problem with Deerhounds, we had arranged to have a prescription for a drug used with humans to prevent post bleeding, which has been shown to be effective with Greyhounds. The pharmacy made a mistake with the instructions, and she got only a small dose the first day and a half. At that point, increasing the dose did not save her. Kaelyn wasn't much of a show dog, but she loved to run. She will remain in our memories, running in crazy circles through the bushes on the beach, or stretching out to run as fast as she could along the wave slope, just because it felt so good. ~ Kris and Bayard Smith LCKC May 2014 9
