RCLRC Volunteering! Please start thinking now about how you can support our 2016 events! See the following page for opportunities. President s Message Well here it is, a start of a new year for the club! I want to thank Cindy Freeman for her dedication and commitment to our club for the past two years. I hope I can be as effective as she has been, and will work hard to ensure our club meets its goals and continues to provide our members with a venue to express their ideas and showcase their Labrador Retrievers, whether through working in the field, showing in obedience or conformation, participating in therapy, agility or whatever. This breed we have chosen to spend our lives with deserves the best we can give them. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please don t hesitate to let your officers or board members know. A club is only as good as its members and we have a great one! A special thank you to Judy Chambers for hosting the annual meeting at her home and for cooking the wonderful main courses for us as well. Yummy! The gift exchange was fun and innovative as usual. We voted on a great slate of judges for 2017 and will be announced when they and AKC approve. Mark your calendars: The B-match was voted on for May 14. Our meeting was short due to the amount of information we had to get through. Please see the minutes and upcoming events sections of the newsletter. The Sportsman Show is coming right up! Contact Jeff Kennedy for time slots to help man our booth February 10-14. This is a great opportunity to get those young dogs out to socialize as well as informing and educating the public about our wonderful breed. Please don t forget about the Show & Go on Sunday, February 21st in Salem! Sign up now and contact Julie Marquis for volunteer opportunities. As you read through the newsletter, please consider volunteering for an event. Besides the upcoming events in February, we still need help during our Speciality and Hunt Test, both in July, which seems far away but is right around the corner! Also, if you have a suggestion for an educational speaker or program, please contact Barbara Gilchrist, our new vice president. That s all I have for now! Hope to see you at the next meeting on February 19th at 7PM at the Delta Park Elmers. Your President, Lisa Crunias 1
