Poultry Ozark Empire Fair Springfield, Missouri POULTRY Entry Deadline: July 1 Junior Show: 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 4 Open Show: 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 5, Darr & Wheeler ARRIVAL: Junior show birds must be in place by 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4 Open birds must be in place by 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 5 RELEASE: 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 5 *ONLINE ENTRIES NOW ACCEPTED* Standard Poultry Competition in addition to Bantams. REGULATIONS - Standard and Bantam 1. Coop charge is $1.50 per bird. 2. ENTRY DEADLINE IS JULY 1. All entries must be postmarked by this date. No late entries accepted. 3. Complete all information as requested on entry blank, using code supplied for age and sex. Please mark "bearded" and "non-bearded" for the entries for which this applies. 4. Each exhibitor will be sent admission credentials for bringing and picking up entries. Please use Gate 10. An official release slip must accompany entries leaving the grounds. Anyone leaving before release time will forfeit all prize money won and the right to further participation. Additional admission tickets may be purchased at the Livestock Office. 5. Competition is open to the world but, due to space limitations, entries will be limited to the first 300 birds. 6. All birds except waterfowl must be pullorum-typhoid tested as per MO Department of Agriculture regulations. See Livestock Entry Rules. 7. Each bird must wear a numbered leg band. 8. PRIZE MONEY: 1st = $3; 2nd = $2; 3rd = $1. Prize money will NOT be paid unless there are at least two entries in the class. An exhibitor may not win more than two monies per class. 9. All entries will be judged to fifth place by the latest edition of the ABA Standard. 10. AGE/SEX DEFINITIONS: Cock: Male bird more than 1 year old Cockerel: Male bird less than 1 year old Hen: Female bird more than 1 year old Pullet: Female bird less than 1 year old 11. SHOWROOM MANAGEMENT: Greatest care will be taken of all exhibits, but Ozark Empire Fair will not be responsible for any accident, mistake, loss or Youth: Classes are offered for all youth who are 8 years of age as of July 1, but not over 22 years of age as of July 1. Please check Youth on Entry Form. OEF will not be verifying whether exhibitors are members of 4-H or FFA. However, membership is strongly encouraged. Out-of-state entries will be accepted. AWARDS - Standard and Bantam DISPLAY AWARDS: $5 for best display in each section provided there are at least two competing displays in that section. Display is seven birds of the same variety entered by one exhibitor. Display must include one cock, one hen, one cockerel and one pullet. The three remaining birds may be any age or sex. Winner will be determined by points won. (1st = 5 pts., 2nd = 4 pts., 3rd = 3 pts., 4th = 2 pts., 5th = 1 pt.) Points will be multiplied by the number of entries in that variety. BEST OF BREED: $10 for Best of Breed in all breeds with 20 or more birds shown. Reserve Best of Breed: $5. BEST OF VARIETY: $10 for Best of Variety in all varieties with 10 or more birds shown. Dues are $20 a year or $50 for three years. New members receive a copy of the quarterly and the latest available copy of the Annual American Bantam Association Yearbook which lists 900 advertisers and includes a complete breed and variety index. ABA award winners are listed in the yearbook under WHO'S WHO IN BANTAMS. Starred wins are earned in classes of 100 or more in the following: Champions and Reserve Champions in the seven Bantam divisions. Best and Reserve of Breed and Variety. Best display when seven or more Bantam displays are shown. Best and Reserve Display when 10 or more Bantam displays are shown. Best and Reserve Trio when 30 or more trios are shown by four or more exhibitors. A single bird is eligible for only one award and can earn only one starred win. **** ABA awards are subject to change.
