President s Letter Hello fellow club members, Last meeting was a good one. Lots of items were brought up and discussed, many that you will find in the minutes. Speakers were brought up for next year, nominations were read, Sportsman s Show discussed, Jeff Kennedy will chair again. Motion was made to produce flyers containing club info, etc. As the hunt trailer was cleaned out, we will be having a conformation trailer clean out on April 28 at the Chambers house. More info to come later. Don t forget to get your judges nomination forms to Judy Chambers by Jan. 1 and annual award info into Lizzie by Dec. 15. As we close on another year, hug your dogs, be kind to one another and have a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year! Your President, Lisa Cruanas Due December 15: Annual Awards. See following pages for forms. Email Lizzie with questions. Due January 1: Please see the following pages for judges nomination info and form that we used last year and will be using this year to nominate 2019 judges for the Specialty and B Match. There is also a line added for judges at the Sweeps Supported Entry in January 2019 at the Rose City Classic. See instructions below. February 7-11: Pacific Northwest Sportsmans Show, Portland Expo Center Once again the club will be doing Meet the Breed at the Rose City Classic. I have requested Saturday (1/20) as our first choice and Friday (1/19) as our second. I won t know which day we will be getting until after entries close. At that time I will also get the time. This is a great opportunity to socialize your young dogs and talk to people about our breed. If you would like to participate, please let Cindy Freeman know. QRLabs@yahoo.com or 760-285-3906 1

Holiday Party Our January General Membership Meeting, Potluck Dinner and Gift Exchange will be held at the home of Judy and Scott Chambers on Saturday January 20, 2018, beginning at 5:00PM. Please bring a wrapped gift to exchange ($20 limit). There will be a pot luck dinner. The main course will be provided by the club. Please bring an appetizer, side dish, salad, bread or dessert. How To Get There Judy and Scott Chambers 10184 Ehlen Road, NE Aurora, OR 97002 503-678-6933 home 503-705-7099 cell From I-5 south or north take exit #278 (Ehlen Road/ Aurora) Turn west toward Champoug State park Drive approximately 2.2 miles Drive is on the left (north) side of the street (drive is gravel) Green metal gate is open and we are the only house at the end Brags Tamaria Hartman, MyKiss Labradors: MBISS MBOSS AM/CAN GCH MYKISS CHIPS AHOY WC RN CGC FDC CHIP and I had a great weekend at the Clark County Event Center Dec 2-4th and he can now proudly add RN, CGC, FDC to his name. We were entered in Rally and in spite of a short training time and his absent minded handler Chip earned his Rally Novice Title with his title run earning a 1st place with a score of 93! The event was a multi hosted Rally/ Obedience trail with 2 trials each day and several other clubs hosting fun events including a CGC, Farm Dog Certification, Trick Dog, Lure Coursing and Barn Hunt. Since it was a double trial each day we had several hours to wait for our 2nd run and decided to have some fun and also get in a little practice so off to the CGC ring first, and then on the enthusiastic recommendation from Toni Leitao we ventured down to the barn to check out the AKC Farm Dog Certification, which is essentially the country dogs version of the CGC and seemed like it would be fun. Chip enjoyed the different elements and passed easily earning his FDC title. The many different clubs did a great job hosting all these events and we sure had a great time! 2019 Judges Nominations (Due to Judy Chambers by January 1): Club members in good standing will nominate judges using the attached 2019 Judges Nomiations Form. The nominations will be placed on a ballot that will be handed out to club members in attendance at the annual meeting held in January. No nominations will be taken from the floor. Ballots will be counted and if a runoff is required, can be done by show of hands for the tied candidates. Each club members nominations are limited to two regular class judges for the specialty, two sweepstakes nominations for the specialty and one obedience judge for the specialty. Only one name can be put forward if that is all that is all the member wants. B-Match nominations are be limited to three names: Regular class judge, sweeps judge and obedience judge. Consideration should be given to people who plan to eventually apply for a judging license. A RCLRC member is usually selected to judge sweeps at the B-Match and the regular class judge can be anyone. Obedience nominations should be able to judge obedience and rally. Please make sure the B-Match nominees want to judge before putting their name forward. Research your specialty selections to make sure they are not judging another west coast specialty, or local all breed show in the year prior to the RCLRC show date. Provide a brief history of the judge and their kennel name that will appear on the ballot. Obedience judges do not need this information but must be able to judge obedience at all levels plus rally. 2
