2 THE HAPPY HEELER From the President s Desk Hope your new year is off to a good start. This will be an exciting month as we receive recognition for all the work we have put in with our dogs. You should have reported any titles earned this year to Bobbie. Remember we are not meeting in the building this month - for our awards dinner we will be meeting at Vincent s on 441 toward Orlando. We look forward to presenting plaques and bars to all who earned titles this past year. This is always an exciting meeting as we celebrate our achievements. We will have a short business meeting - topics must be restricted to the trials in March. Fairgrounds have been reserved, the business license applied for, Labor Ready contacted, judges arranged for and rooms reserved for and notified judges of the arrangements, all the background work hopefully completed. If you have not already done so, please consider stewarding for the trials. Susan is the Chief Ring Steward for Obedience and Fran for Rally, contact them if you are willing to steward. Lake Eustis will be setting up Thursday about 3:30, thanks to Marie. The fairgrounds wanted us to come in and set up at 5 a.m. Friday morning. Let s show up and help set up for the Friday trials. Then Saturday and Sunday we will have the Central Florida trials. Entries will be closing Feb. 26 so get your entry in if you plan to compete. Remember with 3 trials in one weekend you have a good chance of earning a title in one weekend. We will be doing take down Sunday after the last entry has a chance in the ring. I will need someone to take one judge to the airport for their flight back home. Please let me know if you can make an airport run. Also we will be having our judges dinner Saturday evening. This is open to all club members and is a good chance to talk informally with the judges and get to know them. I have really enjoyed getting a chance to talk with some very knowledgeable judges and have learned a lot at these informal dinners. Please consider joining us. I have not settled on a place yet, am open to suggestions. We do want to keep it close to the motel area. Looking forward to seeing you at the awards dinner Tuesday the 18 at Vincents. Betty

Also notice should be given to remind members of the training that starts at 4PM on Tuesday meeting nights. Rachael Flatley Seminar: Chris was disappointed because of extra expenses by the fairgrounds. The income from the seminar was $2300, however the profit was only $400. Most of the members felt this was a success considering all the other events that were happening that weekend. 4 THE HAPPY HEELER Spotlights... Lots of Loot From Bobbie Kurivial Arden earned her Performance 1 dog title at the USDAA trial in Orlando. She also earned her P1 snooker title! 6 runs 5 Q's all first places! WOW! MARK YOUR CALENDAR Trial Dates Indian River Dog Training March 1-2 Location: Melbourne Closing Date: Feb 12 Lake Eustis Kennel Club March 14 Location: Eustis Closing Date: Feb 26 CFODC March 15-16 Location: Eustis Closing Date: Feb 26 ODTC April 5-6 Location: Orlando Closing Date: March 19 Another title for Patsy From Deb Smith Patsy (Parson Russel Terrier) had awesome runs at DOI USDAA last weekend, was clean and just over time on most runs, but did all I asked of her. This past Sunday (did only one day) at OCOD, she had a lovely Open JWW, two refusals, so no q, but nice and timely. She took first and got her NA in Novice Standard at the end of the day. It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live along enough all the components of my heart will be DOG, and I will become as generous and loving as they are. -Anonymous Submitted by Susan Handy K9 Obedience Club of Jacksonville April 19-20 Location: Jacksonville Closing Date: April 2 IPOC April 26-27 Location: Lakeland Closing Date: April 9 Dog Training Club of St. Pete May 3-4 Location: St. Petersburg Closing Date: April 16 Tallahassee Dog Obedience Club May 31- June 1 Location: Tallahassee Closing Date: May 14 IPOC June 21-22 Location: Lakeland Closing Date: June 4 Obedience Club of Daytona July 19-20 Location: Deland Closing Date: June 27
