NEXT MEETING 7:00 PM Monday, August 10, 2015 Officer Gregory Cook and K9 Loki will be presented the bullet proof vest that OCOD donated President s Message, At our meeting this month we will make a presentation of a bullet & stab proof vest to Officer Gregory Cook and his K9 Partner Loki. Below is a biography of Loki: K9 Loki is a 2 year old German Shepherd certified in Patrol and Narcotics work. He is assigned to Officer Gregory Cook who has been a handler with the Port Orange, Florida Police Department since 2013. K9 Loki was purchased from Southern Coast K9 located in New Smryna Beach, Florida and became a member of the Port Orange Police Department in April 2014. He began his formal police training in July 2014 and completed over 400 hours of training. As of July 19, 2014, K9 Loki has 8 tracking of felony suspects resulting in the apprehension of 4 suspects. In addition, the team conducted a building search for a felony suspect who was successfully located. K9 Loki has been instrumental in the arrest of 46 suspects and seized the following narcotics: 141.24 grams of cannabis, 13.7 grams of cocaine, 103.9 grams of methamphetamine, and 67 items of paraphernalia. K9 Loki loves to fetch his Kong. Our First Obedience Trial in the new Training Center was a huge success, we had so many compliments on our trial both from those that entered and our Judges. I want to thank all of our members that came out to help clean before the trial and also those that stayed after to help put the training center back in order. Many thanks to all those that worked our trial, you have a lot to be proud of, the Judges commented of how good our Stewards were, never having to wait on them to do something. We always want to make sure that we are courteous, both IN and OUT of the rings and t and see to their needs. Lateley we have been having trouble getting members to volunteer to help with our classes, remember without your help, we can not hold the classes. Assistants earn Club Dollars to help pay for classes they would like to take. See you at the August meeting, Joan Costello

Page 4 August 2015 Chatter-Barks Obedience Club of Daytona, Inc. P.Ol Box 290822 Port Orange, Fl. 32128-0822 13 July 2015 Beginning this month we will handle money in a different way: The treasurer will give anyone who gives him money in any form, a receipt for the amount the person says it is, if the amount was not correct, the treasurer will make note of it and attempt one time to contact the person of this, probably by email, and also send a copy to the person in charge of keeping track of it, informing of the error. All money coming to treasurer must be dated and totaled. The person getting the receipt will put the receipt in the person who keeps track of receipt s (from now on called The Handler ) folder at the training site. This folder should be clearly marked so as to be easy to locate. The treasurer, near the end of each month when it is available, give the Handler, a copy of the bank statement, which will show the Handler the deposits made during the month. The total deposits should equal the total of the receipts that the Handler has been given showing the amount given to the Treasurer. At the next meeting of the Bord the Handler will give a report as to the condition of the funds reported, this contitute an OK or Not OK, the latter would necessarily require a few words to explain, nothing in writing or comprehensive or lengthy. Page 8 August 2015 Chatter-Barks Obedience Club of Daytona Beach General Meeting Minutes July13th 2015 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Joan Costello Guest were welcomed Wins and brags were announced Report of the Treasurer: Income: $4,133.33 Expense: $4,136.05 Total: $2.72 Trial Committee: Stewards please be to the building no later than 7:30 Report of the Secretary: Two new membership applications from Carole Pierce and David Hoar. Please come out and support there will still be odd and end jobs that need to be done throughout the trial. Crates have been moved to the back for the center space to open up for the trial. Stay after to help pick up and move the mats back to the 4 th ring. A huge thank you the 23 people that came and helped clean. Anne Johnson went over the entry numbers and wanted to remind everyone to come out and help. This is the clubs first big trial in the training building. The club is supplying everyone with water since the building water is not up to par. New Business: Jude and Jack Valoze have stepped down as the agility trial chair, the agility people are making a committee. Raffle baskets from the trials will be put towards the yearly dog charities that we donate to, the general body voted on this and it passed. The trial committee will be looking into a new date for the July trial since the club loses so much money since it is so hot, also the agility committee will be looking at a new date in January since the date is the same as the races and hotels are outrageous. Pat Mozden was contacted by the Pet Supermarket locally and we have been asked to represent the club a couple of Saturdays for the rest of the year. Responsible Dog Owner day is fast approaching on the 12 th of September it will be held at the Volusia Mall. We are still in need of someone to do the agility portion of the show, please contact Pat Mozden for more information. In the next few months keep eyes out for CGCU testing to be available. Ray Stites and Ralph Orlando have been working on the agility trailer to make it better organized. They would like to sell the two old A frames since they are so heavy so that the income from both of those can help buy another light weight one. Meeting was adjourned at 7:58pm Respectfully submitted, Carrie McCord NOTE The Responsible Dog Day is CANCELLED Club Shirts Please contact: Jan DeGraf 386-677-5242 janbeachside@live.com Please pay with a Check RAW FOOD DIET If you are interested in trying raw food with your dog but you need convenience, call Pat and ask about the pouch with individual 2 ounce pieces.
