President s Message Joan Costello NEXT MEETING 7:00 PM, Monday, August 11, 2014 General Club Business I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for helping with our Obedience & Rally Trials. We had a lot of really nice comments about how nice and helpful our members were and what a nice trial we put on. Many thanks to those that were at the Training Center on Thursday night to help roll mats and get everything ready to go on the truck. Also want to thank those that went back on Sunday after the trial to help roll out mats and set-up rings. Without your help our trial would not be possible, so just know what all you did was Greatly Appreciated. AKC has approved for us to have Novice, Beginner Novice and Rally Trials on December 6 & 7, 2014 at our training center. At our August meeting we will vote on holding our July Trial at our facility rather that renting the Fairgrounds again. That would save our Club a great deal of expense and labor. We wouldn t have to rent a truck to pick up the equipment and take over to the Fairgrounds, and another truck to take everything back to the Training Center. There wouldn t be the fee for renting, electric, and custodial person. There would be no set up or tear down involved because everything is already done. The draw back is that we might have to limit entries in some of the classes or have just an Obedience Trial and at another time hold a Rally Trial. Classes have resumed after being closed for 2 weeks, remember you have to fill out a registration form everytime you take a class, also a copy of the vaccination record needs to be attached each time. PLEASE do not wait until the last week to sign up for a class, you probably won t be able to get into a class you want. See you at the August meeting,

Kuenning German Shorthaired Pointer Australian Shepherd Border Collie Yorkshire Terriers Many thanks to all who helped with our trial this year. I counted 57 people. Every task means a lot. Some people worked in the background and some people did many tasks. Every effort made - even if we didn't get to see you at the trial is greatly appreciated not only by me but also by our exhibitors. I'd like all our workers to know that we had many exhibitors stop by to thank us for the trial and compliment us on how quiet and comfortable our venue is. A lot of you workers gave a thumbs up on our new food vendor. He has already emailed me with thanks for the opportunity to serve us and hopes to be back with an expanded menu. Once we get everything unpacked and put away, we can all get back to house and yard work so we can work our dogs again without losing them in the tall grass. Joan will send out info later about getting the training site unpacked and back in shape for classes again. Many thanks to everyone for another wonderful trial! Chris

There was a discussion about future plans for our money. Trial: Chris Franczek spoke about the trial and preparations. Report of Committees: Renee spoke about cancelling classes this week due to sick dogs (a respiratory illness). Free ring time. Also in the crates there was vomit and urine, which was not cleaned up. If this continues, the crates, which are available now for all to use, will be locked up. All need to be vigilant in making sure we clean up after our dogs and watch the students to make sure they clean up. Poop was also found in the bathroom garbage can. There was discussion about price of ring time. A motion was made by Janet Narushka to bring to the general membership any change of price for classes and/or ring time to be voted on. 2nd by Gerri Carter. There was discussion about this. The standing rules were just voted on 2 months ago. Also, Renee Johnson stated that the training committee needs to be able to offer new classes and price them without having to bring it all to the board. A suggestion was made to keep prices the same for all 4 week classes and the same price for all 7 week classes. A show of hands was done to see if general membership was interested in changing the standing rules the show of hands was against changing the standing rules. Pat Mozden stated, we need to be careful with our finances since we have only been in the facility a few months. Joan suggested a meeting with training directors and assistants to hash this out. Gerri Carter wanted to have the general membership at the meeting. Pat spoke about responsible Dog Owner's day in September at the mall. Meeting adjourned at 8:14 Respectfully submitted, Kathy Nicastro

Page 6 August 2014 Sincere Sympathy to Laurel Hendricks on the loss of her beloved Doberman, Haley. Haley went over the Rainbow Bridge today 7/23/14. She will be missed with all her antics, from stealing treats during agility, begging for food from club members at classes, making people smile during therapy visits and going full force in Nosework, just to mention a few. She may not be with me in body but she will always be with me in my heart. Rest in Peace my sweet girl.
