A listing fee is payable for all dogs entered at trials who do not have an individual CKC registration number or an ERN number. CATALOGUES Limited number of catalogues available at the trials. OFFICIAL CLASSES PROVIDED REGULAR OBEDIENCE CLASSES PRENOVICE: For dogs which have not won the title of PCD. NOVICE A: Shall be for pure bred dogs of any breed and those breeds as designated in the miscellaneous class of either sex which have not earned the title C.D. (Companion Dog) in Canada or any other country. NOVICE B: Shall be for pure bred dogs of any breed and those breeds as designated in the miscellaneous class of either sex which have not won the title C.D.(Companion Dog) in Canada. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. NOVICE C: For dogs which have won the title of CD, CDX, UD or any other Obedience Trial Championship Title prior to the closing date of the trial which it is to be entered. NOVICE INTERMEDIATE: For dogs which have won the title of CD, CDX, UD or any other Obedience Trial Championship Title OPEN A: Shall be for pure bred dogs of any breed and those breeds as designated in the miscellaneous class of either sex which have won the title of C.D. in Canada, but have not won the title of C.D.X. RALLY OBEDIENCE CLASSES RALLY NOVICE A: Shall be for pure bred dogs of any breed and those breeds as designated in the miscellaneous class of either sex which have not earned the CKC Rally Novice (R.N.) or any CKC Novice Obedience Title. The handler in this class must be the owner, co-owner or a member of their immediate family. RALLY NOVICE B: Shall be for pure bred dogs of any breed and those breeds as designated in the miscellaneous class of either sex. Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score for the Rally Advanced Class is earned. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. RALLY ADVANCED A: Shall be for pure bred dogs of any breed and those breeds as designated in the miscellaneous class of either sex which have earned the Rally Novice title (R.N.), but have not won the Rally Advanced title (R.A.) or any CKC Novice Obedience Title. The handler in this class must be the owner, co-owner or a member of their immediate families. RALLY ADVANCED B: Shall be for pure bred dogs of any breed and those breeds as designated in the miscellaneous class of either sex which have won the Rally Novice (R.N.) title. A dog completing the Rally Advanced (R.A.) title may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. RALLY EXCELLENT A: Shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (R.A.) title, but have not won the Rally Excellent title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. The handler in this class must be the owner, co-owner or a member of their immediate families. RALLY EXCELLENT B: Shall be for pure bred dogs of any breed and those breeds as designated in the miscellaneous class of either sex which have won the Rally Advanced (R.N.) title. A dog completing the Rally Excellent (R.E.) title may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A dog having earned the Rally Advanced &/or the Rally Excellent title may continue to compete in the Rally Advanced B &/or Rally Excellent classes indefinitely. Qualifying scores may be accumulated from these two classes towards the Rally Advanced Excellent Title (RAE).

PRIZE LIST Oshawa Obedience Association Inc. offers the following prizes and / or trophies: For each trial, $25.00 and a Rosette will be awarded for High in Trial in the Regular All Breed Obedience Trial. Rosettes and a prize will be offered for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements in each REGULAR AND RALLY class. Flat ribbons will be given for all Qualifying Scores in both Regular and Rally obedience classes. Titling ribbons will be available for all competitors who finish titles at our trials. Saturday July 21 Prizes and / or Trophies will be awarded for the Highest Qualifying Score in the Regular obedience classes in either Trial # 173 or Trial #174 in each of the following categories: Australian Shepherd in Regular or Rally Diana Kirkaldy, Riomesa Shetland Sheepdog in Novice A or B Betty Kirkaldy Sporting Group in Novice A or Open A Rabey Family (The prize will be $20.00) Sunday July 22 Prizes and / or Trophies will be awarded for the Highest Qualifying Score in Regular Obedience classes in either Trial #175 or Trial #176 in each of the following categories: Group 5 (Toy) - Leslie Kirkaldy Australian Shepherd in Regular or Rally Diana Kirkaldy, Riomesa Sporting Group in Novice A or Open A Rabey Family (The prize will be $20.00) ALL TROPHIES MUST BE CLAIMED BY THE END OF TRIAL #176. EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER Effective January 1, 1992, all dogs that are foreign born and foreign owned & enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering CKC events will no longer require a CKC registration number, but will require an Event Registration Number (ERN). The ERN number MUST be applied for within 30 days of the first day of entering a CKC event. The new fee is $58.30 per dog. PERFORMANCE EVENT NUMBER (PEN) Effective January 1, 2002, a Performance Event Number (PEN) allows an unregisterable dog of a CKC recognized breed to participate in those competitive events that are appropriate for the breed. This restriction shall also apply to dogs with ILP numbers. Unregisterable Dog means, a dog of a recognized CKC breed that cannot be registered because of unknown parentage or the unavailability of its registration papers. TRACKING FEE NON CKC MEMBER CANADIAN RESIDENTS Effective January 1, 2011, the CKC will be instituting a tracking fee for all Canadian residents who participate in a CKC event but are not CKC members. In order to protect any points and awards earned at any CKC event, a resident non-member can choose to become a CKC member or pay the tracking fee of $57.60 (plus applicable taxes) for each dog. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause all awards and titles to be cancelled. This applies to dogs wholly owned by non members resident in Canada and does not apply to US exhibitors nor to CKC members or dogs co-owned with a CKC member. RULES GOVERNING THE TRIALS 1.The Obedience Trial Chairperson(s) shall have full control of the trials. 2.Dogs must be kept under control at all times. The OOA Inc. will use care & diligence for the welfare of all dogs & exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, nor assume any liability in the event of an accident, or other mishap, however caused to either dogs, exhibitors or property. 3.Only those dogs registered individually, or eligible for registration with the CKC may enter. 4.No entries, changes, or cancellations will be accepted after the published closing date. 5.Exhibitors will abide by any errors made in entering their dogs, regardless of how, or by whom the entry was made. 6.Entry fees will not be refunded in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a judge or veterinarian, or barred from competition by the show committee. If because of circumstances beyond the control of the OOA Inc., it is impossible to start or complete the show, no refund of entry fees will be make. 7.Bitches in season are not permitted to compete. If bitches come into season after the closing date, a veterinarian s certificate, stating that the bitch was in season within the ten day period before the trial, must be in the Trial Secretary s hands before the start of that day s trial, in order to obtain a refund of entry fees. 8.Limited Entry Entries are limited to 7 hours of judging, based on 8 Novice entries per hour, 7 Open entries per hour & 6 Utility entries per hour. Note: When the advertised limit has been reached, all remaining entries may be assigned a position (by class) on the reserved list. The person making the entry shall be notified of their position on the list. In the event that the entry of a bitch is season is pulled after the closing date, it may be substituted with one from the reserve list up to & including the day of the trial. Entry fees will be refunded within 10 days following the trial for those on the reserve list who did not participate in the trial. 9.Trial precincts will be a 30 radius from all ring sides. 10.Moving Up: As per section 6.8.1 a dog may be moved to the next level of competition providing the transfer is submitted to the Trial Secretary in writing one hour prior to the opening of the first trial of the day, schedule permitting. 11.The CKC Rules & Regulations for Obedience Trials section 18.7 states: It shall be the duty and obligation of the trial-giving club to see that a judge, club official, ring steward, volunteer, or competitor at an Obedience Trial held under these regulations, is not subject to indignities of any kind. The Obedience Trial Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this regulation, and the Discipline Committee shall have the authority to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this has occurred.

Bowmanville, ON, L1C 3K7 Sandy Bower (Sandy Coombs) was a long time member of the Oshawa Obedience Association - she dedicated many hours helping out as an assistant teacher at classes and working as a ring steward at the July trials. About eight years ago, Sandy moved back 'home' to Shelburne, Nova Scotia to take care of her aging mother. On Thursday April 26, 2012, Sandy lost her battle with cancer - she will be missed by all that knew her and enjoyed her unique sense of humour. The 2012 OOA trials are dedicated in her memory.
