147 Store Cattle 11.00 am Auctioneer: Jonathan Farrall 07796952948 Great to see a shed full of Stores and an added bonus of a handful of Breeding Bulls. Bull trade very selectivr, top price of 1550gns ( 1627.50) for a smart 18mo Hereford from D.D Rowley and Partners` Hollowseal Herd. Bert Bromfield who is sadly ceasing suckler production, sold Eaton Dibble his 4yo Simmental stock Bull for 1280gns ( 1344). In the Store ring good numbers but not a vintage show by any means. Messrs Lowe sold forward Simmental Cross at 1085 and the best of a run of Cattle from Ray Britland made 940. Plenty of Steers 850-900 including native Hereford and Angus Cross to 920 for Messrs Bennett and Houghton respectively. A shortage of best making Heifers resulted in Herefords at top spot 885 for Messrs Hughes further Hereford Cross to 835 for Mr Bennett and Angus Cross from Messrs Barnes to 830. Starting with the Annual Show of Easter Lambs, we saw female dominance this year, as Claire Tomlinson took 1 st and 2 nd prizes in all 3 Classes, judged by quality producer Ron Eyre from Hathersage, Sheffield. A full report is attached, but suffice to say Claire`s Champion Lamb at 41.1kg, made a record price of 500P/KG ( 205), being bought by C Webb & Sons, Butchers, for Mrs. Cunningham, The Swettenham Arms Inn and Restaurant, Swettenham, Congleton (which I happen to know, from personal experience, also stocks an excellent range of local ales!). Terrific trade on all New Season Lambs saw them average 309p/kg (see full report)- but it was a cracking day for all the Old Season producers as well, with 49 pens making over 200p/kg; 16 pens over 220p/kg; to a top of 245p/kg, twice, for Roger and Simon Bailey`s Texel/Beltex Crosses. As well as the Bailey`s, Messrs Robinson, Booth, Brough and Sidebottom all saw their best pens over 220p/kg. **NEW SEASON** **OLD SEASON* Lambs Max Ave. Lambs Max Ave. Premium 500.0 342.0 Premium 245.0 224.5 Prime 350.0 305.0 Prime 221.0 206.5 Others 275.0 252.0 Others 187.0 181.0 p/kg Kg Vendor 1 450 41.50 C Tomlinson 2 400 45.00 C Tomlinson 2 400 44.00 C Tomlinson 4 390 46.00 C Tomlinson 5 365 42.50 M Hazlehurst p/kg Kg Vendor 1 242.00 44.30 R & S Bailey 2 234.00 44.70 R & S Bailey 2 234.00 46.50 R & S Bailey 4 232.00 4330 R & S Bailey 4 232.00 45.20 R & S Bailey 5 230.00 34.30 J M Robinson Kg Vendor 1 205.00 41.00 C Tomlinson 2 186.75 41.50 C Tomlinson 3 188.00 45.00 C Tomlinson 4 179.40 46.00 C Tomlinson 5 176.00 44.00 C Tomlinson Kg Vendor 1 116.20 70.00 C Grindey 2 110.74 45.20 R & S Bailey 3 110.66 49.40 R & S Bailey 4 108.81 46.50 R & S Bailey 5 107.71 57.60 R & H Eyre
