The premium list is on www.onofrio.com Volunteers for a variety of jobs are needed to make the Wheatland Cluster a success: If you are available to ring steward, inside or outside, please let Cathy Robinson know. We can always use people to set up and tear down on Thursday and Sunday. Contact Mike Williams, if you can help on either or both days. NEWS FOR THE DOG FANCIER Page 2 of 6 SUNFLOWER CLUSTER DINNER MEETING Where: King Park, Hesston, KS When: Friday, Aug 13 Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM Description: This is the annual Sunflower Cluster dinner meeting. Doors open at 6:15, dinner at 6:45, meeting to follow. The meeting will be held in Hesston's King Park. Go to Hesston on I-135. Take Exit 40 and go west on Lincoln Blvd to the park. You must RSVP to Treva Faires by August 5 th, if you wish to attend and have dinner. Dinner will be paid for by the Wichita Kennel Club for all WKC members. September General Meeting Annual Picnic Monday September 13th 6:30 PM We will have to pay the caterer for the number of people who have RSVPed, so if you tell Treva that you re coming and then don t show up, you will be expected to reimburse the club for the cost of your meal. There will be a car pool available. If you need a ride or would like to give someone else a lift to the meeting, we are meeting at the WKC building at 5:30 PM and driving up to Hesston together. The Rainbow Bridge In July, we had to let our sweet Aussie boy, Storm, co-owned with Hunter Clarkson go to the Rainbow Bridge. He was 13 years old and was one hell of a dog, with enough love and energy for two families. We'll miss ya, 'stubbytailedspecklenosedstep' dog... Page 3 of 6 NEWS FOR THE DOG FANCIER Wichita Kennel Club General Meeting Minutes July 12, 2010 The members of the Wichita Kennel Club met Monday, July 12, at the WKC Building at 7:30 PM, with Treva Faires, President, presiding. Treasurer: Tom Chase presented a bill from Leanne Chase for two months of Newsletter expenses totaling $35.96. Motion was made, seconded, and approved to pay this bill. Recording Secretary: Absent Corresponding Secretary: Pat Deshler reviewed the correspondence received recently including the AKC Lifetime Achievement Awards. Some miscellaneous correspondence was passed around to the members. AKC Delegate: Treva Faires announced that the fall meeting would be held in Newark, NJ in September. Membership Committee: Joyce Price announced that we had two visitors: 1. Monica Monroe Monica has completed all of her requirements for membership, and her application was given to the Board. Her sponsors are Pat Deshler and Treva Faires. Monica has attended WKC handling classes with her Shiba Inu and has worked at the shows and microchip clinic. She needs to be published in the newsletter before the general membership can vote (Joyce had Leanne send out an e-mail to the general membership on July 13.). 2. Denise McKee has borzoi and bedlingtons. Classes: Treva announced that new Conformation Classes would start Tuesday, August 10. Historian: Milli Dold reported that the club now has the catalog and premium list from its second show. New Business: Report on the Status of the Kansas Pavilions: Pat Deshler reported that Sedgwick County intends to resurface the parking lot and build a new stand-alone shower building on the grounds. We can probably expect increased rental costs of approximately 10%. There will be further discussion on how the parking charge will be handled. She will follow up with Ron Holt on the status of Wiedeman Park. Cluster Dinner Meeting: The fall meeting of the clubs will be held on Friday, August 13, in Hesston. Reservations need to be in to Treva by August 5. National/Regional Specialty Contract: Milli, Treva, and Tom have a final draft of the proposed contract, which will be sent on to the Hutchinson and Salina club presidents for their review and discussion within their clubs prior to the contract being presented for a vote at the August cluster meeting. Nikki will now explore the herding arena and possibly the agility ring. Beardie girls are notorious for not wanting "rules" placed on them; so we will see. Rally will be held concurrently with Obedience Classes. Judges will call the pattern for you, if desired, but there will be no scoring. We will not time the Rally classes.
