Comes When Called Understands "Good" Plays With Toys Understands "No" Method of Correction Firm No! is all that's needed. She doesn't like when people shout so any yelling at her will scare her and make her nervous. Small Dog Safe Comments (Small Dog) She's getting along well with our Beagle. She pretty much ignores her and doesn't go after her for anything. Cat Safe
Comments (Cat Safe) Headliner tested cat safe, however we do not have a cat in our house at this time. Good With Young Children Correctable Comments (Young Children) We're marking this as correctable simply because she had a little bit of space issues/sleep startle when she first came into our home. If she got bumped while asleep she would let the other dogs know she was not pleased. We've noticed that this has subsided the longer she's been here. As with any new hound in a home give her some time and a little extra space starting out and she'll adjust quickly. Turn Out Routine Our turn out routine is first thing after waking, before we leave for work, as soon as we get home from work (7-8 hour day typically), after dinner, and once before bedtime. Potty On Lead Garbage Has left alone for the most part Stairs
Floors No issues with floors Counters We caught her counter surfing a few times when she first came in, but has gotten better. When is the hound crated? 8 Hour Work Day How does the hound handle being crated? Currently crating her during the day while we're at work. We crated her at night initially but now she's coming upstairs with us at night and sleeping in our bedroom with the other hounds. What does the hound enjoy? Most of the time Hedy is really laid back and quiet, but when she's in the mood to play she loves throwing toys around or chewing on an antler. As she's settled in it seems being with people is her favorite thing. She's a full on couch potato and definitely will want to be at your side if given the opportunity. Typically we don't allow fosters on the couch but she wasn't having any of that so we gave up. It isn't to say she can't be corrected of that, but as sweet and lovey as she is we're hoping you'll cave like we did! Does the hound have any fears? Hedy does not like loud noises or yelling. We noticed early on if we raised our voice to our own hooligans that she would shy away and run to the back. She isn't shy by any means, but it does seem like she takes some time to get comfortable to your mannerisms. Sudden fast movements of make her nervous and she will shy away from you, but comes back As of this writing we haven't
had any severe storms so we don't know for sure how she is with them. For the few mild ones we've had she has ignored them. What type of temperament does the hound have? (Shy, outgoing, confident, etc.) Reserved at first but a very playful and fun girl underneath. When she gets in her playful mood you'll think it's a different dog. She'll bark, alligator snap, and run around having a grand old time. Lying next to you on the couch is one of her favorite things. At times she seems a little bit nervous so this is where we again exercise caution in the begging with children until she becomes more comfortable with you. How does the hound handle new situations? So far she seems to follow your lead on new things/places but she's handled them well. Again she may be somewhat reserved at first but she tends to warm up quickly. What type of food are you currently using? Diamond beef & rice Amount of AM feeding 2 cups Amount of PM feeding 2 cups
