ENGL-3 MMS Running on Water Quiz Exam not valid for Paper Pencil Test Sessions [Exam ID:1DHT0H Read the following passage and answer questions 1 through 9. Running on Water 1 Green basilisk lizards can perform the amazing act of running on water. Although this sounds impossible, the way they are designed makes it possible. Stop, Drop, and Run! 2 Green basilisk lizards are found in the rainforests of Latin America. When they are grown, they are only two feet long. That is including their tail. They spend most of their time in trees. However, they are always near a body of water. When the lizards sense danger, they quickly drop from the tree to nearby water. This is how they avoid their predators like snakes and birds. They can sprint five feet per second. That s pretty fast for a little creature. They can skim across the surface of water up to 15 feet or more. Their quick reaction helps save their lives. How Do They Do That? 3 The lizards design is what makes them unique. They have long toes on their back feet with loose skin that spreads out when they touch the water. Their running style also allows them to keep from sinking. As they swiftly run, their feet slap against the water, creating a small air pocket. Along with speed, this enables them to run on water.
