Lea's Silver Sentinel - Gaidoune Go Betw een), finishing at 16 months with three 4 pointers and several BOBs. He had scored impressively as a 9 months puppy, earning 12 points... q uite a nice record! A long-standing record was broken at the Birmingham Championship Show in England this fall, when Betty Bull's Kennelgarth Black Diamond won the CC and her title. "Diamond" brought her sire, Ch. Kennelgarth Viking, to the top of the list of Top-Producing Sires of all time. "Viking's" list of 19 English Champion get tops the long-standing record of the great foundation 13
sire, Ch. Heather Necessity who sired 18 Champions. At but 71/z years old, there is little doubt that "Viking's" record will grow... his grand total of 31 champions all over the world will take some beating. Our congratulations to his breeder-owner. The most recent English show where CCs were offered was Leicester, where Audrey Dallison gave a first CC to a puppy bitch, Rodeon Rina, owned by Harry Hughes. The Dog CC and BOB went to Miller's Ch. Brio Cabin Boy. EASTERN NEWS by Robert A. Marshall 329 Newtown Road Wyckoff, New Jersey Another October, the month of Specialty Shows, come and gone. This one was different as I had the pleasure of judging the Sweepstakes at the STCA Specialty at Montgomery County. The view changed somewhat from inside the ring; the time flew b y and some very fine youngsters passed in and out. In several of the classes I felt there should have been more ribbons, as the quality was quite good. A number could win handily in competition just a little less keen. Mr. Heywood Hartley has been approved to judge the February Specialty in New York. Write for a premium list (Foley Show) if you are not on the regular mailing list. In the mid-thirties it wasn't unusual for us to have an entry of over 100 dogs at this show. With exhibiting on the upswing, we should give this show more attention and support it as well as the spring and fall shows. The STCA Historian's job has turned into a joy and trial at one and the same time. A joy to get lost in the AKC library and delve back into the records and become more aware of the great dogs of the past, and a trial to get it all on Carnation SCOTTISH TERRIERS CH.
