Event Information What Is Bark For Life? Bark For Life is an American Cancer Society fundraising event that honors the lifelong contributions of our canine caregivers. It presents an opportunity for people to be empowered through their canine companion partnerships and to contribute to cancer cures through the American Cancer Society. Canine caregivers are canine companions, guide dogs, service dogs, rescue dogs, therapy dogs, police dogs, cancer survivor dogs, and diagnostic dogs who, with their owners, are joining the American Cancer Society to help finish the fight against cancer. They participate to celebrate cancer survivorship, to honor those lost to cancer, and to fundraise in support of the American Cancer Society s mission to finish the fight against cancer. Bark For Life events offer survivors and any dog lover the opportunity to partner with their canine best friends to create new connections and share a chance to smile as they come together to fight cancer. What is a BFL Team Captain? A Team Captain is a person who helps support Bark For Life by organizing and leading a group of people and their dogs! Forming a team and being a Team Captain is a fun and simple way to empower people to fight back against cancer! Here s how to get started: Recruit a team of 5 to 15 people and their four-legged friends! Ask Family Ask Friends Ask Neighbors Ask Co-workers Register your team on your local Bark For Life website! Email your team members to go and register via the Bark website Send emails asking people to donate or join your team through the Bark website Set a fundraising goal for your team! Coach and motivate your team to success. Keep in contact with your team members Encourage their fundraising efforts Get them excited about Bark Invite the cancer Survivors and Caregivers Ask them to join your team Encourage them to participate in the Survivor Caregiver Lap at Bark Delegate! Have your team members help plan team fundraisers and recruit other dog lover to join in!

Know that your Donation is making a Difference

Thank You for being a Team Captain THANK YOU! With your motivation and encouragement, we know you and your team will reach your fundraising goals and help the American Cancer Society finish the fight against cancer. Coordinating a team and participating in the Bark For Life of San Antonio is going to be an amazing experience. We have plenty of fun and helpful tools to get you started today! The number one reason people don t get involved or donate is they were never asked, so be sure to let others know what you are doing and how they can help. The most successful teams combine different types of fundraising to meet their goals with both individual fundraising efforts (through emails, conversations, and matching gifts), as well as with team fundraising activities and events. Team Captain To Do List Read your Team Captain Kit Brainstorm a great team name: Sign up your team online. Lead by example, and make a personal donation to your team s fundraising efforts. Set a challenging individual fundraising goal: $ Recruit team members, and make sure they all sign up as part of your team. Work with your team to set a challenging team fundraising goal: $ Invite cancer survivors and caregivers to participate. Encourage your team to contact everyone they know to ask for a donation. Plan fundraising events with your team: Proudly talk about the Bark For Life of San Antonio and encourage others to join your team and donate.
