SOUTHERN AFGHAN CLUB OPEN SHOW 2 nd September 2018 Thank you to the Southern Afghan Club for inviting me to judge, my two very able stewards who ensured an efficient flow to the classes and to the exhibitors who provided me with the privilege of judging their lovely hounds. Puppy D (1 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Trainor & Rogers TULAK FAST AND FURIOUS promising 10mth b/m gold, liked his head and typical expression complete with monkey whiskers, he has a nice dark eye, correct bite, his ears are set low and back. He has a correct lay of shoulder, a deep chest with good spring of rib, nice level topline leading to correct fall away and low set ringed tail, which he carried well on the move. Good rear angulation down to low hocks. Moved well. Best Puppy in Show Special Veteran 7 to under 10 yrs D (2 ent, 0 abs) 1 st King CH KARANDIKAR STAR STORM 8 years b/t with typical eastern expression complete with beard, dark triangular eyes, long, masculine foreface, correct bite, ears set low and back, long neck leading into a well-laid sloping shoulder, deep chest with good spring of rib, straight front, big feet, good level topline, short in loin, prominent hip bones, good rear angulation, ringed tail. Long silky coat which was presented well. Beautiful profile shape, he moved well with reach and drive without losing the desired spring to his gait. Best Veteran in Show 2 nd Parker & Hitch ZENDUSHKAS GLENMORANGIE another lovely and well presented b/t of nearly 10 years, he too has typical head and expression with dark triangular eyes, correct bite, low set ears, long neck, correct shoulder placement, deep chest and good spring of rib, level topline, good angulation fore and aft, moved well with reach and drive Junior D (4 ent, 0 abs) -close decision 1 st Boydell NIGHTWIND YOU CAN T STOP THE BEAT nice size and profile shape on this well presented 16 mth black. Lovely head and expression with long foreface, correct bite, dark eye and ears set low. He has a really good sloping shoulders set well and a nice straight front with big feet. He has a deep chest with a good spring of rib, level topline, prominent pin bones and good fall away, low set ring tail. Good rear angulation and low hocks. Extending well at the front with drive at the rear, this dog moved effortlessly with typical springy gait. Reserve Best Dog 2 nd Parsons JONECA FIRE CRACKER BY SHUKRIYA close up to winner, this 13 mth houndy b/m gold has so much to like. He has a lovely head and keen expression with dark triangular eyes and correct bite. His ears are set low and he has a long neck leading down to his well placed sloping shoulders, deep chest and straight front. He too had a level topline, was short in loin, prominent pin bones and had correct fall away and ringed tail. He has good overall construction with good muscle

tone and good angulation front and rear which showed in his sound movement with good drive from the rear. 3 rd McLay CLOUDSIDE SUN KING Yearling D (3 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Boydell NIGHTWIND YOU CAN T STOP THE BEAT 2 nd Parsons JONECA FIRE CRACKER BY SHUKRIYA 3 rd Mullen NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE DE HILLSBURY Maiden D (1 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Mullen CELESTIAN SPACE ODDITY compact 5 yr blue carrying a huge coat which hid his profile shape. He has a long foreface with good expression and long ears which are set low. Adequate length of neck, deep chest, good spring of rib, short in back, low hocks, would like to see him moved on a looser lead Novice D (1 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Mullen CELESTIAN SPACE ODDITY Graduate D (1 ent, 0 abs) 1 st McLay CLOUDSIDE FLASH THUNDER pale silver brindle who was pleasing to go over, masculine head with typical keen expression, small dark eyes, correct bite, lovely to see a beard, ears well set, good length of neck down to well laid shoulders, deep chest, level topline, prominent pin bones, good fall away, nice angulation throughout, nice ring to tail. He moved well with good reach and the desired springy gait. Post Graduate D (2 ent, 0 abs) 1st Gardner DRISHAUN BLACK AND TAN REBEL - this b/t was presented well with a nice profile shape on the stack. He has a masculine head with keen expression, dark eyes of correct shape and long ears set low. His long neck leads down to well-laid shoulders and a straight front with big feet. He has a deep chest with good spring of rib, level topline, short loin, prominent pin bones, good fall away down to good rear angulation with good muscle tone. His tail was ringed and carried well on the move. His good construction was evident in his sound and effortless movement with reach and drive. He had a springy gait and was unaffected by the heat. Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show 2 nd Seamarks & Nemoto SAYADENA NORTHERN LIGHTS lots to like with this self masked cream who was also presented well. He was slightly broader in head than my winner but had a keen expression, dark triangular eye and correct bite. His ears were set low and he has a good length of

neck. Straight front with big feet, deep chest with good spring of rib, level topline, prominent pin bones, correct fall away, ringed tail, good rear angulation and low hocks enabling him to move with drive. Limit D (3 ent, 0 abs) a mixed class 1 st Stevens & Craft AYOUBKHAN FIRETHORN this houndy blue drew my attention from beginning, lovely stacked profile shape, he has a lovely head carried proudly on his long neck, with typical eastern expression, long foreface, dark triangular eyes, good mouth, long ears set low. Straight front, deep chest, short in loin, prominent pin bones, good angulation fore and aft, ringed tail. Moved well with reach but started to feel the heat. 2 nd Gardner DRISHAUN IT AIN T WHAT YOU DO this red/gold was heavier in type than my winner. He has a correct bite, dark eyes, low set ears, good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders, deep chest with good spring of rib, level topline, prominent pin bones, good rear angulation. Moved with desired springy gait 3 rd Herd & King SUKESHI OLYMPIC STORM Open D (4 ent, 0 abs) 1 st McLay GARAMOND TAYBERRY well presented black with a masculine head and keen expression. He has nice dark, triangular-shaped eyes, a correct bite, beard and low set ears. He had a good length of neck down to sloping well-laid shoulders, deep chest with good spring of rib, straight front and big feet. He had a level topline, short loin, correct fall away down to low placed tail which was ringed. His overall construction and good angulation front and rear enabled him to move well with reach and drive. 2 nd King ALOUANN STEAL N THE SHOW JW this cream dog was also well presented and was a lovely profile shape on the stack. He has a masculine head with a long foreface, correct bite, long ears set low. He has a long neck which leads down to sloping well laid shoulders. He has a straight front, deep chest with good spring of rib, level topline, short in loin, prominent pin bones. Correct fall away, good rear angulation, low hocks, ringed tail. He moved well with drive. 3 rd Gardner JAVIDAN BAD BOY BOOGIE Special Veteran 7 to under 10 yrs B (1 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Humphreys AYOUBKHAN FLEUR DE LYS slate blue presenting a nice profile shape. She has a feminine head with correct dark triangular eye, good bite and low set ears. She has a good length of neck, good front assembly, level topline to good fallaway, ring tail. Moved well with drive. Best Veteran Bitch Special Veteran 10 yrs & over B (1 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Arscott KABELLA MOON RIVER very pretty and feminine self masked cream, compact shape, nice head and dark eye, good mouth, good length of neck, deep chest, straight front, level topline, short loin, nicely angulated, ring tail, moved well

Junior B (3 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Fairburn & Roberts CLOUDSIDE SUNSET beautiful brindle with a lovely head and the classic look through you expression, dark eyes, correct bite, ears set low, she has a good length of neck which leads down to her sloping and well set shoulders, her deep chest and good spring of rib. Her topline was level and she had good rear angulation. A lovely profile shape on the stack, she moved with reach and drive, covering the ground easily. 2 nd Stevens & Craft JONECA FIREBLADE this gold was slightly more rangier in type than my winner but also had a lovely head and expression, good mouth, long neck, good shoulder placement, level topline, good angulations fore and aft, ringed tail. Moved well 3 rd Turner & Boydell NIGHTWIND YOU RE MY KIND OF CRAZY Yearling B (3 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Parker SAXONMILL JEAN GENIE AT KHATIRA JW compact and feminine black, lovely head with typical aloof expression, dark eyes, good bite, low set ears. She has a good length of neck and well laid sloping shoulders. Level topline, short loin and prominent pin bones, good fallaway to well set ringed tail. Her front assembly and rear angulation allowed her to move round the ring with easy, effortless drive and extension whilst also displaying the desired springy gait. Best mover on the day and my Best Bitch and Best in Show 2 nd Humphreys JONECA ETERNAL FLAME - houndy b/m gold just out of puppy, she has a good head with long foreface, dark correct eyes, good bite, low set ears and a nice length of neck leading to her well-placed shoulders, deep chest, level topline, good fallaway to ring tail, good angulation fore and aft, good muscle tone which showed in sound movement with good rear drive. 3 rd Turner & Boydell NIGHTWIND YOU RE MY KIND OF CRAZY Novice B (1 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Fairburn & Roberts CLOUDSIDE SUNSET Post Graduate B (3 ent, 1 abs) - 2 blue litter sisters with very little to choose between them 1 st Stevens & Craft AYOUBKHAN JASMINE lovely head and expression, dark triangular eye, correct bite, good length of neck, well set sloping shoulders, straight front, deep chest with good spring of rib, level topline, prominent pin bones, correct fall away leading to low set ringed tail, moved with good reach and extension. 2 nd Humphreys AYOUBKHAN BLUE ROSE slightly more compact frame but shared all of her sister s attributes and is constructed well throughout. Today, I felt her sister just had the edge on movement

Limit B (3 ent, 1 abs) 1 st Parker DEVARNMARN SAY THE MAJIC AT KHATIRA - beautifully marked b/t, compact but feminine. She has a lovely head with a keen but aloof expression. Lovely dark triangular-shaped eyes, correct bite, low set ears, good length of neck leading down to correct and well placed shoulders. Level topline, short in loin, good rear angulation, low hocks, moved well with reach and drive. 2 nd Boydell & Fairburn NIGHTWIND THE BEAT GOES ON AT WARRENOAK JW SHCM well presented gold bitch with a lovely typical eastern expression, dark eye, good bite, lovely long ears set low, good length of neck, good construction throughout with good angulation, ringed tail, moved well Open B (1 ent, 0 abs) 1 st Peek-Matar SLEEPY HOLLOW AT YANSUKHIM JW SHCM beautifully presented brindle, houndy but feminine. Lovely head with dark triangular eye, long foreface, correct bite, long strong neck into well laid sloping shoulders, deep chest with good spring of shoulders, level topline, prominent pin bones, well muscled with good angulation fore and aft.
