(Southern Alberta Wheaten Association) In payment of entry fees, the tendering of NSF cheques shall be considered non-payment of entry fees and is punishable by disciplinary action and cancellation of awards. A collection fee of $25.00 will be added to the amount of any returned cheque. Fax entries and/or credit card payment will be accepted when accompanied by authorized VISA or MASTERCARD credit card number, expiry date and cardholder s name. 10% of total fee will be added for FAX/Credit Card entries. Customers whose charges are declined by the Bank Card Authorization Department will be assessed a service charge of $25.00 for each transaction declined. Telephone entries are not accepted by the Show Secretary. Incomplete entries or entries received without fees, or entries received after the advertised closing date will not be accepted. There will be no refund on overpayments or duplicate entries. Please mail entries early to ensure that they are received before the closing date CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SECTION 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: (*Includes the dog awarded Winners.) Dogs Competing* 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13 or more Points Allocated* 0 1 2 3 4 5 To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the Group as listed hereunder. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Further section 15.1.12 {C} has been added and states the dog must: have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed level or group level. Sponsored by

CLASSIFICATIONS: REGULAR CLASSES The following classes will be provided, divided by sex. JUNIOR PUPPY 6 months & under 9 months on the day of the show SENIOR PUPPY 9 months & under 12 months on the day of the show 12-18 MONTH 12 months & under 18 months on the day of the show CANADIAN BRED Dogs born in Canada. Champions of any country are excluded. BRED BY EXHIBITOR Dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder. The handler must be the owner/co-owner and breeder/co-breeder of the dog. The owner/breeder must handle the dog in this class, but need not handle the dog for further awards. OPEN CLASS Shall be for all Dogs. VETERANS Open to all dogs over 7 years of age and older on the day of the Specialty. The winners of the Veterans Male & Female classes will not compete for Championship points but go directly into the Best of Breed competition. Veteran dogs may be neutered or spayed. SPECIALS ONLY This class will NOT be divided by sex. A dog may be entered for Specials Only and such dog shall compete for Best of Breed award. If eligible it must compete for the award of Best of Opposite Sex. Should a dog entered for Specials Only place in its group at the show then all awards the dog earned at the show will be canceled if, at the time of closing of entries for the show, the dog was not registered individually in the records of the Canadian Kennel Club or if the dog has not earned all the championship points required for championship status. The entry of a Listed Dog in this class is NOT allowed. NON-REGULAR CLASSES Dogs must be entered in the regular classes, Specials only or For Exhibition Only, to be entered in any of the non-regular classes. The following classes (divided by sex) will be offered: BABY PUPPY STUD DOG & GET BROOD BITCH & PROGENY BRACE SEXUALLY ALTERED PARADE OF VETERANS 3 months and under 6 months on the day of the show. Stud dog and 2 or more of his get, not necessarily owned by the same person. There is one entry fee for this class. There is no charge for the get but they must be entered in the regular classes or for exhibition only. Brood Bitch and 2 or more of her progeny, not necessarily owned by the same person. There is one entry fee for this class. There is no charge for the progeny, but they must be entered in a regular class or for exhibition only. For 2 dogs of the same breed, not necessarily of the same sex. Both dogs need not have the same owner. Payment is required for the class only not for each dog Two classes only will be offered; Altered Male & Altered Female Open to dogs and bitches 7 years of age and over. No entry fee is charged for this class; however dogs have to be entered in a regular class or for exhibition only. The remaining entry fee money will be awarded on the following basis: 1 st Place in each class 30% 2 nd Place in each class 20% 3 rd Place in each class 15% 4 th Place in each class 10% Best in Sweepstakes Best of Opposite to Best in Sweeps Rosette and Prize Rosette and Prize Additional Prizes The Holweit Challenge Trophy A bronze study of Ch. Holweit s Robin The Bank, mounted on an Oak base, to be awarded to the Best of Breed Winner at the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada s National Specialty. The winner will be presented with a Commemorative Study. For permanent possession the trophy shall be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog. The trophy is to remain in the possession of Sylvia and Bill Hamilton or their designate until retired.

Best Canadian Bred in Specialty Maureen Holmes Trophy, 16 inch sterling silver revere bowl, will be awarded to the Best Canadian-Bred in Specialty. A rosette will also be offered. A donation to the AKC/CHF Health Fund will be made by the donors, Emily Holden and Carol Carlson in the name of the owner and the dog. For permanent possession, the trophy must be won five times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog. The trophy will remain in the possession of Carol Carlson or her designate until retired. Vivienne Lindsay Memorial Trophy Dr. Robert Lindsay and Tyrone Wheatens are pleased to offer the Vivienne Lindsay Memorial Trophy to the highest placing owner-handled Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier at the 2103 Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada s National Specialty. The trophy will be engraved and retained by the donors and a prize presented to the winner. Awards of Merit: At the conclusion of the Best of Breed competition the Club is offering Awards of Merit. One Award of Merit may be awarded for every 10 dogs competing for Best of Breed at the judge s discretion. Special Breeder Awards: The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada is pleased to offer a special award recognizing the breeders of purebred dogs. A green rosette will be awarded to the breeder of the dog awarded Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Breed. Obedience Award: The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada is pleased to offer a rosette and prize to the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier achieving the Highest Qualifying score in the Alberta Kennel Club Obedience Trial #2 held on Saturday August 3, 2013. Rally Award: The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada is pleased to offer a rosette and prize to the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier achieving the Highest Qualifying score in the Alberta Kennel Club Rally Obedience Trial #2 held on Saturday August 3, 2013. Agility Award: The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada is pleased to offer a rosette and prize to the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier achieving the Highest Qualifying score in the Alberta Kennel Club Agility Trial #1 Ring #1 held on Sunday August 4, 2013. GENERAL RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS 1. The Club reserves the right to remove any person from the show. The Show Superintendent shall have full control of the above shows and trials, which will be governed by CKC Rules. 2. Any dog excused by the Show Superintendent or the Show Veterinarian for any reason shall not, after being excused, compete in any class for any award for the balance of the show. 3. The show committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of accident, or other misfortune, to either dogs, exhibitors patrons, or equipment. 4. A Judge or any person participating in any capacity at a Dog Show held under C.K.C. rules shall not be subjected to any indignity of any kind during the progress of the show and it shall be the duty and obligation of the Club holding the show to see that this rule is effectively carried out. 5. Exhibitors are solely responsible for the conduct or actions of their animals while they are on the show grounds. 6. DOGS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING. The club will not be responsible for and is not obligated to provide any service for notifying owners or agents of breed or class judging. The ring shall not be held up waiting for exhibitors or handlers. 7. The owner of a dog entered in these shows is entirely responsible for any error in entering his dog, regardless of how or by whom the entry was made. 8. A dog once disqualified for any reason at a championship show held under these rules cannot again be shown at a show held under these rules until the dog has been examined by an official committee appointed by the CKC and the committee finds the dog is free from the condition which prompted the disqualification. Application for reinstatement must be accompanied with a fee set by CKC which shall be forfeited to the CKC if the examining committee is satisfied that the dog should remain disqualified. All awards earned by a dog shown in violation of this rule shall be canceled by the CKC and the owner of the dog is subject to disciplinary action. 9. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Please exercise your dog BEFORE taking it to the Judging ring. 10. No entry fee will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire an Act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the club. 11. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from completion by action of the Show Committee.

MYSHAWNS AMBASSADOR AWARD The Wheaten Ambassador Award is offered annually by the SCWTAC through the generosity of Margaret Stewardson (Myshawns Wheatens) in Memory of Shawnie. The award is presented to the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier from those proposed that best meets the criteria for this award as selected by a committee of three individuals chaired by Margaret Stewardson. The committee will include as a minimum one member of the SCWTAC board. The award will be presented at the AGM/Dinner held in conjunction with the National Specialty. Eligibility To be considered for this award a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier must be proposed in writing by a member of the SCWTAC. The proposed dog must also be owned by a SCWTAC member and be registered with the CKC. Proposed candidates will be accepted up to 4 weeks prior to the date of the National Specialty in the year of the award. Criteria Dogs from all countries are eligible providing they are registered with the CKC and owned by a member of the SCWTAC. A minimum of 3 titles must have been achieved from different areas of competition (i.e. conformation, obedience, pet therapy, agility, etc). The level of difficulty of each title will be evaluated and rated accordingly. Involvement in community activities will be a major consideration.
