Hello Exhibitors, President's Message Welcome to the 2019 Greater California Show. We have continuously hosted this show since 1979, except in 2003 when Exotic New Castle Disease hit California and all shows were canceled We are concerned about this strain of Virulent New Castle Disease in California and we will be taking precautions in how we screen entries and conduct biosecurity measures at our show. Some of our poultry fancy friends have been affected by this disease and may be located in quarantine areas. We will not be seeing these friends or their birds this year. Hopefully the disease will clear out of California and we will be back to normal next year. We lost a good friend this year. Walt Leonard passed away in late September. We will be honoring Walt at our show this year by dedicating our show in Walt' s memory. We will have a display of Walt available for photos you may have of Walt. Look in your photo archives and bring copies of those photos and pin them to the display. There will also be room to write a note if you like. The photos can be returned to you after the show. We have a great program planned for you including a Great Youth Program judged by Dr. Francine Bradley and her team. Our show will host the California Qualifier for Avian Bowl. The winning Avian Bowl Team will represent California in Kentucky at the National Avian Bowl competition. We also have a great slate of judges who will be judging the Open and Junior Show. Those judges include Gary Agajanian, Anthony Ashley, Steven Beaty, and Amanda Stallman. As part of the program, we will try to provide opportunities for you to interact with the judges to ask them questions about their judging style and why they judged your bird as they did. We Look forward to seeing you and having another great poultry show. <.0. ACCESSORIES FOR ALL TYPES OF ANIMALS VJTAr.tNS.. $V-PPl-CMCNT'W.. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR SHOW In Memory of Walt Leonard THE HAY COMPANY 10470 E. McKinley Sanger, CA 93657 Hay -Grain Vet Supplies Fencing Taek Pet Supplies (559) 251-2981 Walt Leonard, 2010 Greater California Show, Fresno, CA Holding one of his East Indie Drakes We have lost another friend of the Greater California Society of Poultry Fanciers and the poultry world. Walt Leonard passed away in September 2018 and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Walt was a true expert of poultry and was well known not only in California, but all over the country. Walt was a licensed judge in the APA and ABA and was known to specialize in waterfowl. In his later years he had the best East Indie Ducks and he won many shows with his East Indies. Walt was partners with Bob Jones for many years and together they were known as "Jones and Leonard". Together they won many show champions and were the top winners in Cal National for 21 years. Walt was always at the Greater California Show in Fresno and made friends with many new exhibitors. Walt was easy to talk to and was always willing to give pointers and information to old and young poultry breeders and exhibitors. Walt made many friends with his quiet charm and sense of humor. We will miss Walt at our shows and in the world of the poultry fancy. 22 3
