Part 2 French Exhibitions In Southwest France By: Patrick Gonzales, Pigeon Judge (France) Every continent, country and region has its own pigeon breeds, which are often closely linked to the history of that area. Even in a small country like the Netherlands, we see the Croppers best represented in the West, while you will find Tumblers and High Flyers traditionally in North Holland and the Colour Pigeons and Structure Pigeons predominate in Central Netherland. Of course there are also plenty of examples to refute this statement, but then there is also an advantage that the Dutch pigeon fanciers live relatively close together. Their provincial pigeon fancier associations often have more than 100 members, of which a large number will meet several times a year at meetings and / or exhibitions. The Dutch fanciers should realize that they are unique in this. In most countries, the population of pigeon keepers can often be sparse and scattered. In France for instance, it is quite normal on a Sunday afternoon to go and visit a fellow breeder who lives 200 miles away. This gives a very different atmosphere in the sport experience, especially at a show where participants often stay for a week - with their family - at a local hotel, in order to experience the total show event.
