FINAL CONFIRMATIONS WILL BE EMAILED OUT ALSO and ARMBANDS PICKED UP AT THE TRIAL. DATA ENTRY AND CHANGES TO YOUR INFORMATION Data entry mistakes happen. That is why we ask everyone to READ their preliminary confirmation and final confirmation. For the majority of entries, dog and owner/handler information remains the same. However, if you have a: New email address, New Titles, New Handler, New address and phone, New jump height (including jump height changes from trial to trial. For example, dog jumps 24" at one trial, then 26" in the next trial.) Highlighting ANY of these changes on entry forms would be especially helpful so that these changes can be updated in our database. Then, please review your confirmations carefully to ensure that your requested changes have been made. Move Up Deadline - Remember that the Move-up Deadline for your first day of a weekend trial is ALWAYS Monday at 6:00 pm. Please send those move-ups in right away. Novice Exhibitors please read the section on the move-up form or under Move-ups about when you need to change from Novice A to Novice B.

MEASURING and HEIGHT CARDS If a measurement is necessary, it is the exhibitor s responsibility to have their dog(s) measured prior to running. If your dog does not have a Permanent height card, or if your dog has turned 2 years of age, since getting your temporary height card, your dog NEEDS to be measured. If your dog needs to be measured, remember to check the box on the entry form. Exhibitors are NO longer required to send their height cards in with their entries, Jump Height cards are NO longer required to be shown during check-in. All dogs competing in agility must possess an official AKC Jump Height Card. Dogs that do not have a valid Jump Height Card must be measured by a judge of record for that trial and will only be effective for that set of trials, excluding the dogs jumping in the 24-inch or 26-inch height division. If an official measurer is present, all dogs that have not been issued a permanent Jump Height Card or temporary jump height (yellow) form must be measured for a Jump Height Card regardless of the jump height entered. If there is not an AKC Field Rep or VMO in attendance, all dogs that have not been issued a permanent Jump Height Card or temporary jump height (yellow) form may still compete; however, they must be measured by a judge of record for the trial, prior to running at each trial. The judge s measurement will be valid for this trial or back-toback trials only. If a dog is measured by an AKC Field Rep or VMO and is now eligible to jump in a lower height class, the measurement is effective immediately for any future runs. This does not apply to a challenge measurement for a permanent jump height card. Effective January 1, 2010, exhibitors are no longer required to provide proof to Trial Secretaries that their dog has a valid jump height card as part of the check-in process. See Simplified Jump Card Process Section for a complete AKC Explanation. HEIGHT DIVISIONS Owners/Agents are responsible for entering the proper height divisions. All height divisions will be offered in both the standard classes and the jumpers with weaves classes. Regular Exhibitors may choose to enter their dog in a higher height division than required by AKC, but not in a height division lower than the AKC mandated height. Preferred The following jump heights must be used in all Preferred Classes. REGULAR PREFERRED Dogs 11 inches and under at the withers 8 inches 4 inches Dogs 14 inches and under at the withers 12 inches 8 inches Dogs 18 inches and under at the withers 16 inches 12 inches Dogs 22 inches and under at the withers 20 inches 16 inches Dogs over 22 inches 24 inches 20 inches Dogs may be entered at 26 height at their owner s discretion. NOTES FROM TRIAL SECRETARY Please READ AKC has changed the Entry Form, PLEASE USE NEW ENTRY FORMS! Any entry received before the opening date is an INVALID entry. Double and triple check your entry form, and your payment. Any entry received with the improper funds constitutes an invalid entry. Do not make checks out to me, Please make checks out to Long Island Trial Services. Checks not made out to Long Island Trial Services will constitute an invalid entry. This trial does not offer the Fast or the T2B classes, so please do NOT enter them. Remember to check off the box if your dog needs to be measured. Please make sure you enter your dog in the proper height class, I hate getting notices from the AKC of Qs that are removed for dogs running in the wrong height division. Reminder, you are not need to send me your height card, it will make more work for me to just throw it out. If you send overnight delivery, please remember to sign the signature waiver. Signature Waiver - Please remember to check the No Signature Required box AND sign that spot where you authorize them to deliver on any overnight package. My Post Office will not even attempt to deliver packages that require a signature. AND I don't make trips to the post office to claim entries that require a signature. NEW WAIT LIST POLICY: Wait List for Withdrawn Entries after the Closing Date/Time: A wait list is being offered to fill openings created by withdrawn entries, either before or after the trial's closing date/time. A maximum of 30 entries per day, will be accepted for the wait list. All entries, including wait listed entries must be received by the Trial Secretary prior to the closing date. Any entries withdrawn that are received by the Monday preceding the trial, will be replaced by a wait listed entry if any are available. If a withdrawn entry is replaced by a wait listed entry, a full refund will be issued for the withdrawn entry. If the withdrawn entry after closing cannot be replaced, no refund will be due. Any wait listed entry that does not move off the wait list into the trial, checks will be shredded. I ALWAYS acknowledge all entries with an email. You will either get a preliminary confirmation or waitlist email. If you do NOT receive an email from me DO NOT assume you didn't get into the trial. You NEED to assume I didn't get your entry.

NEW Simplified Jump Height Card Process When filling out the entry form, there is a new section at the top of the form for exhibitors to designate whether your dog has a valid jump height card or if your dog needs to be measured. Please check the appropriate box so that the Trial Secretary knows whether to include your dog on the Dogs To Be Measured List. It is no longer required that you submit a copy of your dog s jump height card with your entry form or show it during day of show check-in. How do I know if I have a valid jump height card? If your dog is under the age of two years as of the trial s date: One (1) temporary measurement is required. Once measured, be sure to retain the Agility Measurement Form yellow copy and check My dog has a Temporary Jump Height Form box, otherwise your dog needs to be measured. If your dog turns two years of age or is older as of the trial s date, your temporary measurement expires on their 2nd birthday and your dog needs to be measured. If your dog is the age of two years or older as of the trial s date: A minimum of two (2) permanent measurements are required. If both permanent measurements place your dog into the same jump height class, the AKC office will issue you a permanent card. If not, then a third measurement is required to determine the dog s jump height class. Until such time that you have received all required measurements for a permanent jump height card, check the My dog needs to be measured box. Upon arrival at the trial, you must check to see if there is a Volunteer Measuring Official and/or an Agility Field Rep. present to perform official measurements. If not, and you posses a yellow copy of the Agility Measurement Form from a previous measurement, then your armband may be picked up during Check- In in lieu of being measured by the judge of record. Once you have received your permanent card from the AKC office, check the My dog has a Permanent Jump Height Card box on all future entry forms. Exception to the 2 permanent measurement requirement: If your dog measures over 22 inches at the withers, you have the option of selecting the Over 22 Reqst Perm box at the top left corner of the Agility Measurement Form to receive a permanent jump height card from AKC after a single measurement. If you do so, please also sign below the checkbox. By doing so, you are giving up your right to have a 2nd measurement performed on your dog in the future; however, you are not giving up your right to have the challenge measurement process performed in the future. Once you have received your permanent card from the AKC office, check the My dog has a Permanent Jump Height Card box on all future entry forms. What if my dog measures into a different jump height then what he is entered? If your dog has been measured by an AKC Field Representative or Volunteer Measuring Official (VMO) and is now eligible to jump in a lower height class, the measurement is effective immediately including any runs (regular or preferred class) which have not yet occurred on the same day that the measurement is recorded. This immediate action does not apply to measurements taken as part of completing the challenge measurement process. Dogs who measure into a higher jump height have always been required to be moved immediately. May I challenge my dog s jump height card measurement? Yes, each dog may go through the challenge process once after the age of two (2) years, if requested by the owner. (Any dogs under the age of two (2) years are also eligible for a challenge measurement.) What is the jump height card challenge process? The jump height card challenge process replicates the original measurement steps. A minimum of two (2) challenge measurements are required. If both challenge measurements place your dog into the same jump height class, then you will be issued a new permanent card from the AKC office. If the two challenge measurements place the dog in different jump height classes, then a third challenge measurement is required to determine the dog s jump height class. Until such time that you have received all required challenge measurements, you must continue to compete at the original jump height stated on the permanent jump height card that is in your possession. It is the sole responsibility of the exhibitor to have their original, official jump height card or temporary jump height form at each trial to present upon request. Additionally, if a measurement is necessary, it is the exhibitor s responsibility to have their dog measured prior to running. Regulations for Agility Trials, Chapter 2, Section 4. Questions regarding either the Simplified Jump Height Card Process or Mixed Breed Optional Classes should be sent to agility@akc.org.
