MVetMed 2008 Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University, Egypt. BVetMed 2004 Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University, Egypt. PERSONAL STATEMENT My long term research interests involve the development of a comprehensive understanding of key behavioral pathways and how alterations in gene expression and proteins contribute to animal welfare. My academic training and research experience have provided me with an excellent background in multiple biological disciplines including molecular biology, behavior and management assessment. As an undergraduate, I was able to conduct clinical behavioral research at faculty of veterinary medicine, Benha University during the summer training courses. As a master student, my research directed to assess the welfare problems of both cage and deep-litter systems of Japanese quail. I gained expertise in bird behavior assessment and developed a novel protocol for quail s behavior evaluation. I received several academic and teaching awards. In 2012, I joined Purdue University to do the PhD research on Safeguarding Welfare of Food Producing Animals and developing the invasive and non-invasive biomarkers through physiological and molecular tools. Two published research articles in peer review journals in addition to three scientific abstracts in wellknown animal behavior conference work were generated. For my postdoctoral training, I will continue to build on my previous training in animal behavior and welfare by moving deeply into these aspects that will allow me to address additional questions. 1
