Golden Retriever Club of New South Wales Championship Show, 6 September 2015 Judge: Margaret Hean Arangold Golden Retrievers, New Zealand. Thank you so much for inviting me to officiate at your show. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to judge so many lovely Goldens. The weather was perfect for both handlers and dogs, the quality of the dogs was outstanding and I can honestly say this has been the highlight of my judging career so far! Thank you all for taking my decisions so graciously, at times there was very little between placings and it could easily have been just how the dog performed at that moment in time that made the decision between first and second. Your Baby Puppy classes were just beautiful...so many lovely babies all happy to be there, I will watch their future progress with interest. My top winners were just stunning, and I was really pleased to see the lovely toplines (which they maintained on the move) and balanced angulation in these dogs, with good layback of shoulder and length of upper arm combined with an equally angulated rear. I was interested to find that my BIS was the sire of my Junior Dog and first and second in the Junior Bitch class and that my Reserve Dog and Best Bitch were litter brothers and sisters and from my BIS litter sister!. Colour ranged from deep gold to pale cream which was just lovely as to me it is one of the special aspects of our breed. BABY PUPPY DOG 1. Fantango Here Comes The Sun A beautifully put together puppy, nicely balanced front and rear, level topline, lovely head and expression, great bone and moved with drive. 2. Kaparla Repeat Offender Not quite as well angulated as the first place, has started to grow legs, nice head and expression, good topline and bone, moved happily around the ring. 3. Fantango Rising Sun Not quite the bone of the first two at this stage, lovely head and expression, balanced angulation, level topline moved happily around the ring. MINOR PUPPY DOG 1. Piarki Winstons Golden Ticket Lovely head and expression, lovely topline, moves with drive, a little long in coupling at this stage. 2. Elljoa Poco Diablo Not as mature as first place, but is younger. Didn t maintain his toplne as well, pretty head and expression with nice bone. PUPPY DOG 1. Glenking Grand Edition (AI) beautiful front and rear angulation with correct length of upper arm, and beautiful level topline, lovely personality, tail never stopped wagging. 2. Montego Dare To Be True (AI) Lovely bone, not as well balanced and not the angulation at this stage as the first placed dog. Lovely head and expression, beautiful bone.

JUNIOR DOG A number of the dogs in the class were very proud of their tails when they came into the ring. This did settle a little with time, but did take away from the overall picture and balance of the dogs. 1. Fantango To The Moon and Back Very pleasing head and expression, not overdone in any way, balanced angulation front and rear with well let down hocks, moved beautifully around the ring, level topline, good bone. 2. Jukeran Dares Cooldude Completely different in type to first place, very nice dog, not the angulation of first, pleasant head and expression, moved with drive. 3. Goldbrior Ghost De La Rayere (AI) Not quite as confident in the ring which affected his topline on the move, pleasant head and expression, nice bone. INTERMEDIATE DOG 1. Ch Giltedge Cat Got Your Tongue Stunning front and rear angulation, beautifully balanced. Well let down hocks, great topline, kindly head and expression. Moved with drive, very obviously loves his mother, couldn t take his eyes off her. 2. Goldkey Freedom Fighter Slightly lighter in bone and not quite the angles of the first placed dog but still perfectly acceptable and balanced, nice topline which he maintained on the move, good head and expression. 3. Gildengold Handel In The Strand Heavier dog all over, both in bone and in head, short coupled, a bit proud of his tail as he moved around the ring. Nice angles front and rear. AUSTRALIAN BRED DOG A very hard class to judge because the first two were both so different in type but both beautiful specimens of the breed. They could change places at any time depending how they performed on the day. 1. Ch Goldew Southern Son Lovely deep gold boy, strong and masculine in every way, beautiful head with lovely expression, excellent pigment, dark eye, superb level topline, loads of bone, short coupled, went around the ring with drive. 2. Ch Fantango Playing The Game (AI) Lovely pale gold boy with super angulation and lovely level topline. Kindly head and expression, dark eyes and good pigment. Beautifully balanced, not quite the bone of one. Moved with drive. 3. Ch Goldtreve Wild Murphy Magic Unlucky to come up against the first two today. Good angulation and topline, short coupled, moved with drive. OPEN DOG Hard to choose between the first two. 1. Ch Giltedge Do You Like Apples (AI) Lovely mid gold dog beautiful bone, level topline, balanced angulation front and rear. Very nice head. Long ground covering stride looked as though he could keep going all day. 2. Ch Burragundy Dusty Drover Another lovely balanced dog. Lovely topline, nice head and expression, not over done in any way. Another lovely example of the breed. 3. Sup Ch Aursauver Dux of Miramar 8 years old another very nice dog, lovely head and expression, slightly smaller, lovely short hocks, short coupled, moved with drive around the ring.

VETERAN 1. Ch Larbellah Team Leader What a star!! He took my eye as soon as he came into the ring. 8 years of age but still covering the ground like a two year old. Strong and masculine in every way, and presented to perfection in beautiful condition. Lovely bone, with balanced angulation front and rear. Great neck into shoulder. Level topline which he maintained on the move. Masculine head with dark eye and melting expression. Just owned the ring, everything to like about him!! I was pleased to award him Best Dog and Best In Show. 2. Sup Ch Dykinta Southern Express 9 years of age, slightly smaller dog who excelled on the move, nicely angled front and rear, short coupled, nice head and expression. 3. Ch Eurogold Eye Witness 7 years of age. A bigger dog, not the angulation of the first two and a little longer in coupling, good topline and pleasing head and expression. NEUTER DOG 1. Neut Ch Caerhays Glen Hamish CCD RE JD GD A nice type in good condition, nice head and kind expression. Front angulation could be better. Level topline and moved well. Happy boy. BABY PUPPY BITCH What an absolutely beautiful class of 10 baby bitch puppies!! All were so happy in the ring and performed so well it made me very embarrassed at how naughty my own babies are in the ring at that age. None of them did cartwheels and none of them tripped up their owners. There was nearly two months difference in age in this class, which at this age does make a big difference in bone and balance. They were all truly amazing and a credit to all of you! 1. Piarki Cool Glitter Gold A very mature puppy for her age. Very nicely balanced, sweet head and expression, lovely bone, level topline and moved with drive. 2. Linkestis Lady Grace A little bigger all over than the first place but again beautifully balanced, sweet head and expression, nice dark eyes and personality plus!! 3. Fantango Sunny Side Up (AI) A younger baby, lovely outline, pretty head and expression, good angulation, but not quite as balanced as the first two at this stage, probably because of the age difference, moved around the ring with presence. MINOR PUPPY BITCH 1. Goldbrior Alexandra The oldest in the class and very mature for her age. Plenty of bone, very pretty head and expression, equal angles front and rear, level topline. Very nice girl. 2. Bluebreeze Nine Pieces of Eight slightly different in type but again a nice girl with a very pretty head, not quite the angulation of the first place. Level topline, good bone. 3. Wynwhisper Girl Gone Wild Pretty head and expression, nice bone, level topline, is just a little up on leg at the moment, but will probably drop into herself as she matures.

PUPPY BITCH 1. Montego Truly Yours (AI) A really lovely girl, beautifully balanced with lovely angulation front and rear, great bone, level topline, well let down hocks with lovely broad second thigh, pretty head and expression. 2. Giltedge Roll Out The Red Carpet Lovely head and expression, angulation not as balanced as first place at this stage but covered the ground beautifully on the move. Level topline and beautifully presented. 3. Bluebreeze Daintree Goddess Nice head and expression, didn t have the front angulation of the first two. JUNIOR BITCH Hard to choose between the first two and they could change places at any time. Was interesting to see they are both from the same sire, the dog that I went on to award BIS! 1. Fantango Carry On Dancing Very pretty bitch, won the class as she maintained her topline slightly better on the move. Lovely head and expression, nice bone, straight front, moved round the ring with purpose and drive. 2. Giltedge Watching You Another lovely girl, gorgeous bone, great neck into shoulder, nice head and expression and strong backend. 3. Alnclair Whole Lotte Music (AI) Lovely angulation front and rear, level topline, lovely head and expression. Didn t cover the ground on the move as well as the first two today. INTERMEDIATE BITCH The first three placing in this class were all stunning bitches, with only the smallest things separating them. My winner took the class because I just couldn t take my eyes off her on the move!! 1. Ch Fantango Stack the Deck What a pity this girl forgot to put her clothes on when she came to the show today! Truly a quality bitch who took your eye as soon as she came into the ring. Pretty head and expression, dead level topline, balanced angles front and rear, covered the ground with a flowing effortless stride. 2. Bluebreeze Covergirl A very nice bitch in full coat a little longer than the first place and unlucky to come up against her on the day, lovely head and expression, beautiful bone, level topline. 3. Montego Dare To Be Majik (AI) Another lovely bitch, just missed out to the other two as she had a slight slope to the croup and didn t manage to hold her topline as well on the move, Beautiful front angulation, short coupled, in full coat, lovely bone, and lovely head and expression. AUSTRALIAN BRED BITCH 1. Giltedge Catch Your Breath Beautiful bone, lovely topline, well angulated front and rear, beautiful neck into shoulder, nice head and expression, a little longer than my ideal but her fluid movement, covering the ground with minimal effort won her the class. 2. Ch Montego Dream a Little Dream Very pretty bitch, lovely head and expression, level topline, short coupled, not quite the upper arm of the first placed girl, which meant she didn t cover the ground quite so well, but a lovely bitch. 3. Japorik Miss Rosebay A lovely solid bitch with beautiful head and expression, deep through the chest, good tail set, covered the ground well, nicely angulated front and rear.

OPEN BITCH A very hard class to judge as there was 5 years difference in age between my 1st and 2 nd placed girls and 9 years difference between 1 st and 3 rd!! 1. Giltedge Theres A Butterfly (AI) The youngster in the class! An absolutely beautiful bitch, short coupled, beautiful bone, lovely head and expression, correct and balanced angulation front and rear with the correct length of upper arm which meant she covered the ground effortlessly and with style. I was proud to award her Best Bitch and Reserve Best In Show 2. Ch Fantango Playing The Field Another beautiful bitch, not quite the substance of first, beautiful head and expression but would have like a little more breath of muzzle, lovely neck into shoulder, level topline, balanced angulation front and rear, moved with drive. 3. Ch Alnclair Aiming High What an amazing girl for 11 years of age (too old to go in the veteran class so had to be shown in Open!!) Her movement belied her age, she went around the ring like she owned it!!! A pleasure to watch. Short coupled, great angulation front and rear, pretty head and expression, a credit both to herself and her owners. I would have loved to have judged her a few years ago! VETERAN BITCH 1. Ch Bozgold Waltzing Matilda 9 years of age and still oozing quality, lovely bone, great depth of body, pretty head and expression, nice topline, just a little throaty. 2. Ch Montego Bridget Jones 7 years of age, pretty girl, not the upper arm of first, moved beautifully around the ring, very elegant with lovely level topline. 3. Ch Eurogold Eye Catcher 7.5 years of age. Another lovely girl but not the topline of the first two, nice head and expression, moved well. NEUTER BITCH 1. Ch Neut Ch Perrecca Xanthe CD RE JDX SPD SD GD 10 years of age, very nice girl, level topline and tail set, moved with style around the ring. 2. Ch Neut Ch Alnclair Amazing Grace 7 years of age. Pretty head and expression, good front angulation, topline not quite as good as first. 3. Neut Ch Goldtreve Dreamweaver 9 years of age. Another nice girl, lovely body and angulation, nice topline not quite the head and expression and didn t move as well as first two today.
