On Thursday October 25th, 2018 one half hour after judging the GDCA will host the first competition for the Merle. Entries will be taken on Thursday from the beginning of judging until the end of judging of the regular classes that day. It is the wish of the GDCA that this showcase competition will serve a great tool to educate its members and prospective judges on our newest recognized color. We invite everyone to participate whether by showing or just observing these beautiful dogs. Classes will be 6 9 months, 9 12 months, 12 18 months, and Open (18mo and up). All classes will be divided by sex. Additionally, the GDCA intends to ask that some of the Merles participating in the Meet the Merle Event be utilized for the judges education program the following day as we all know education is paramount to the success and understanding of the implementation of the standard changes. Participation in the event is key to the GDCA helping educate both breeder judges and upcoming judges alike. We look forward to a great celebration of the Merle and invite everyone to participate and learn from this once in a lifetime event!!!! 5
