NOTICE BOARD POLICY CHANGE RE: CONFORMATION EVENTS - MARKING OF JUDGING SHEETS AND TABLE AND RAMP BREEDS Please note the change to the Policy and Procedures Manual that was carried at the March meeting of the CKC Board of Directors. The change affects the marking of the judging sheets with regard to dogs examined on the table or ramp. The change is effective January 1, 2019. Policy and Procedures Manual, Chapter VI, Shows & Trials, Section M. Conformation Events THAT, effective January 1, 2019, Chapter VI, Shows & Trials, Section M, Subsection 12 of the Policy and Procedures Manual, be amended as follows: DELETE 12. Marking Puppies on Judging Sheets a) All puppies that are entered in adult classes must be marked by the Show Secretary on all copies of the judging sheets including those of the Ring Steward. REPLACE WITH 12. Marking Judging & Stewarding Sheets a) Marked judging and stewarding sheets supplied by the Show Secretary will include: (1) all puppies that are entered in adult classes; (2) the breeds to be judged on the table or a ramp with the exception of Toy Breeds. WINTER AIR TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS FOR PETS Due to chilly temperatures and increased passenger and cargo loads expected over the holiday season, winter restrictions are in effect for the transportation of pets travelling by air. Please note that WestJet holiday embargo dates apply to pets travelling as checked baggage. Therefore, WestJet is unable to accept animals as checked baggage from December 15, 2018 to January 6, 2019. From December 11 to December 14, 2018, and from January 7 to January 10, 2019, a maximum of two animals will be accepted as checked baggage. Also note that WestJet Cargo is unable to transport pets from December 15, 2018 to January 6, 2019. Air Canada is unable to transport pets within North America as checked baggage or via Air Canada Cargo from December 15, 2018 to January 12, 2019. This restriction applies to flights within North America, or on international flights with a connection in North America during this time. As many countries place restrictions on the entry of animals, be sure to contact the embassy or consulate of your destination country for specific requirements. CORINNE WALKER APPOINTED NEW CKC DIRECTOR IN ZONE 8, MANITOBA On behalf of the Board of Directors, The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Corinne Walker as the new CKC Director for Zone 8, Manitoba. Now retired, Ms. Walker worked for 40 years as the Manager of Print Services for the non-profit organization, Sport Manitoba, where she played an integral role in delivering services such as budgeting, marketing and project development for member organizations. Alongside this full-time position, Ms. Walker served in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves at the rank of Master Warrant Officer. She developed training plans, instructed members at the national level, and supervised other instructors to ensure a high standard. With this impressive professional background, Ms. Walker brings a wealth of experience that will greatly benefit CKC. A life member of CKC, Ms. Walker has a strong background in purebred dogs, having bred and shown Rottweilers, French Bulldogs, Bouvier des Flandres, Bernese Mountain Dogs and Manchester Terriers. She was involved as an exhibitor in conformation, obedience and tracking and has also served as show superintendent and show secretary for various clubs in Manitoba. She currently sits on the CKC Discipline and ROE Committees while also serving as event secretary for the Manitoba Canine Association. A recognized judge, Ms. Walker also serves as a Director of the Canadian Dog Judges Association. As a long-time member of the dog community, Ms. Walker will be an asset to CKC, the members of Zone 8 and the Board. Congratulations, Ms. Walker!
