JRTCA Suitability - Judge's Choice Open to any adult adult Jack Russell Terrier, including those which have been spayed/neutered. The dog the judge would choose to take hunting to each quarry listed below. Class 1038: Suitability to Red Fox Class 1039: Suitability to Groundhog Class 1040: Suitability to Raccoon/Badger JRTCA Miscellaneous Class 1041: Rescued Russell (non-sanctioned) Open to any terrier that has been adopted through a rescue or shelter, or is currently in foster care. This class is not judged on breed standard. Cuteness and tricks are encouraged! Class 1042: Spayed/Neutered Working Terrier Open to any adult Spayed/Neutered Jack Russell Terrier, which holds a JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificate. Class 1043: Spayed or Neutered Adult Terrier Class 1044: Spayed or Neutered Veteran/Senior Terrier Fun Conformation Ring Classes (no entry fee, non-sanctioned) Class 1045: Tricks Open to all breeds. Judged on cuteness and fun factor. Class 1046: Costume Open to all breeds. Dogs and/or owners are judged on cuteness and originality. Earthdog Conformation (non-sanctioned) Earthdog conformation classes will be held after the sanctioned JRT conformation classes. Open to colored terriers (dark-bodied terriers with less than 51% white), dachshunds and any earthdog breed other than JRTs. Terrier must work to find the quarry in the shortest amount of time. The clock starts when the judge is ready and signals you to release your dog at the gate. All four paws must be on the ground before you release your dog. The judge stops the clock when your dog has found the tube. You do not enter with the dog but you can encourage your dog verbally. No hand signals allowed. The dog must locate the tube to have a qualifying time. No cross-entering between classes. Maximum time allowed is two minutes. The terrier enters an artificial den/tunnel to demonstrate its working ability. Schooling prior to the competition is not permitted. Any violation of this rule shall result in disqualification from the Go-To-Ground competition at this trial. For all classes: work is defined as baying, digging, concentrated stare, whining or biting at the bars. A break in work is defined as ceasing to work for a period of more than ten seconds. Leaving the quarry is defined as moving back in the tunnel away from quarry and out of the view of the judge. The judge may halt the work, if the judge believes the terrier is injuring itself. Copies of JRTCA trial certificate must be submitted with pre-entries or presented to the den steward at the time of judging. Cross entering is not permitted between certificate classes.
