JUDGE'S PROFILE Ms Sanna Vakkilainen (Remarkabull) [Finland] I'm most honoured to have been asked to judge in your Speciality in 2018. This is the second time I've judged in England and the first time I am awarding CCs. I have visited Crufts many times as well as some other UK CH shows. I haven't attended any for a couple of years because of this impending judging appointment, which is special to me. I got my first dog, a Bearded Collie, in 1974 and Bullmastiffs have captured my heart since 1998. My prefix is Remarkabull and so far I have bred 100 Bullmastiff puppies including 23 champions. There are currently another four Remarkabulls waiting to turn the required two years to be able to go for that last CC, and several others with CC/RCC. Several dogs have gained winner titles, Group, BIS, BISS wins/placements. I have imported/used Bullmastiffs from England, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Austrailia and Italy as well as using frozen/fresh semen from England, USA, Sweden and Russia. Most imports have also gained their CH titles or have CCs. My first litter was sired by CH Wyburn Obbie before he gained his title and I was at Crufts watching him when he won BOB. His son was top winning Bullmastiff in Finand, 2004. I have bred around 30 BOB Breeder's Goups, several with BISS/BIS wins or placement, and have had many dogs going top dog or bitch of the year. In 2014 a dog of my breeding was number seven in all breed in Finland; highest ever for a Bullmastiff. Last year he was number 12 with just 12 shows. In addition to showing I have also trained and qualified three Bullmastiffs in search and rescue trials and there are several Remarkabulls who are actively training. I have judged Bulmastiffs at Championship level in England (no CCs), Italy, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Estonia, and Bullmastiff Specialities in Sweden, Austria, Denmark and Spain. I had the honor to judge bitches at the Bullmastiff World Cup, 2012 in Austria and I judged Bullmastiffs at the Finnish Winner Show, 2014. I look forward to meeting all of you and your lovely Bullmastiffs. DIRECTIONS TO THE VENUE From A1(M) leave at junction 6 and follow the A1000 signs to Welwyn Garden City. The village of Digswell is clearly marked, and once under the viaduct the Showground can be easily located just ½ mile on the B1000. The distance from the motorway to the venue is approximately 4 miles. IMPORTANT THE KENNEL CLUB IS PARTICULARLY ANXIOUS THAT WE TAKE THE MOST CAREFUL STEPS TO PREVENT DOGS FIGHTING OR SOMEONE BEING BITTEN. ADVERSE PUBLICITY FROM SUCH AN EVENT WOULD NOT BE IN THE INTERESTS OF OUR BREED OR OUR SOCIETY. PARENTS AND GUARDIANS WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CHILDREN'S BEHAVIOUR WHILST AT THE SHOW. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and only exercised in area provided. Please clear up after your dogs. With your help this venue can be safeguarded for our and other dog societies' future use.

A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Show. Where the Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Show. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best in Show. 11. Best in Show: Best in Show must be selected from the exhibits declared Best of Sex but only if they have received a first prize in a class at the same show. If a Reserve Best in Show is to be selected, the eligible dogs are those declared Best Opposite Sex and Reserve Best of Sex to the exhibit declared Best in Show. 12. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management. 13. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 14. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 15. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.

Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 18. No modifications will be made to the schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine press wherever possible. 19. All dogs must be accompanied and have a strong collar and lead. 20. SAFETY OF DOGS. The Committee will be most anxious for the care and safety of dogs entered for exhibition and for any property entrusted to it but it must be distinctly understood by exhibitors and purchasers and all other persons that the Committee will not be responsible for the entire or partial loss, or detention of, or damage to a dog or dogs, boxes, hampers collars or any other property whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever, nor for any act or omission of themselves, their officers, servants, agents or others, and it is on this understanding only that entries are received. 21. Should the judge be prevented from fulfilling his engagement the Committee reserve the right of appointing another judge to fulfill his duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition but no entry fees can be returned. 22. Conversation is not allowed in the judging ring. Exhibitors showing dogs are not permitted to hold conversation with the judge during the competition and any exhibitors who persist in addressing the judge, after being requested not to do so by the Ring Steward, the Judge or any of the Committee will be reported to the Kennel Club. No persons other than the exhibitors (officials excepted) will be allowed in the ring during the judging of classes or specials. 23. EXHIBITS ONLY ALLOWED. No animal other than a dog duly entered for the Show will be allowed within the precincts of the Show during its continuance except by special permission of the Committee. 24. Every exhibitor making an entry shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations and it is on this understanding only that entries are received. Vicious dogs are not eligible and must not be sent to the Show. Exhibitors are held responsible for any damage done by their dogs during the exhibition. 26. Exhibitors' passes will not be sent out. If acknowledgment of receipt of entries is required, please enclose a stamped addressed postcard with the entry form. Ring Numbers and Catalogues will be issued at the Show. 27. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. 28. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event). 29. A dog may be disqualified by the Board from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees. 30. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.
