Editor: Detta Andreana Associate Editor: Sandy Clark -www.sleepyhollowgspclub.com In This Issue ABOUT OUR CLUB SYNOPSIS ON PURPOSE AND GOALS The Sleepy Hollow German Shorthaired Pointer Club is a not for profit Breed Specific Dog Club. We were founded in 1988 by a small unit of very dedicated GSP people. Throughout the years, we have grown to expand our horizons as we continue to promote the health and welfare of the Versatile GSP. The Sleepy Hollow GSPC, is an American Kennel Club Sanctioned Specialty Breed Club. SHGSPC is also a member club of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America. We promote the responsible breeding of the purebred GSP. We urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed approved by the American Kennel Club, as the only standard of excellence. The SHGSP Club conducts Sanctioned Specialty Breed Shows, Obedience Trials, and Field Events held under the Rules and Regulations of the American Kennel Club. Our Club is about Good Sportsmanship - Our members, their enjoyment of the sport and willingness of their dogs. Education - Learning through the exchange of knowledge within the membership. In an agility trial, a dog demonstrates its agile nature and versatility by following cues from the handler through a timed obstacle course of jumps, tunnels, weave poles and other objects. It s an activity that strengthens the bond between dog and handler and provides fun and exercise for both, which might explain why it s so enjoyable to watch and has become the fastest-growing dog sport in the United States! 2014 American Kennel Club Pictured at left is Sara Jacobs' Lenny at a recent Agility Train & Go and doesn't he look happy! Sara will be presenting an an Educational Program: Introduction to AKC Agility on Sunday, July 27 at the home of Jane Rae. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE DENISE AVERY Hello, I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer. What a wonderful turnout we had for the June Specialty and I mean that in terms of both members coming out to help and competitors who came from near and far. It is obvious by the amount of entries and the distance many exhibitors travel that our specialties are a premier northeast event. Once again, on behalf of the club, my sincere appreciation to all that worked in one way or another on this event. I very much look forward to the upcoming events for more camaraderie and enjoyment of our awesome dogs. Please mark your calendars for the Potluck Luncheon, Educational Presentation and Meeting on Sunday, July 27th to be held at Jane Rae's lovely home in Cross River, NY. Our own Sara Jacobs will teach us about agility! Next on the agenda will be the Hunt Test in September. I hope to see you all there! Also, please watch for details about the Club Harvest Dinner, we need committed participation in this event for it to take place. Formerly the Holiday Dinner in December, we are trying something new by having it at a time where there (hopefully) won't be any weather issues. I would love to see this event become a true celebration of all the amazing accomplishments achieved by our dogs. Please contact Sue Prohaska with the details of titles earned this past year Thank you one and all for your continued support of the Sleepy Hollow GSP Club, if there is any activity, or event you would like to see our club hold or support, please reach out to myself or any of the officers.
