YABTC Sportsmanship Award 2014 Recipient Mary Mignogna In 1985 Dorothy Keck was the first recipient to receive the Good Sportsmanship award that was sponsored by the Gaines Dog Food company. When Gaines stopped sponsoring this award, the club felt that this concept was too important to drop; and it was then called the Youngstown All Breed Good Sportsman Award. When Dorothy died in 2005, the club wanted to honor her lifetime membership and commitment to the club and so renamed this award. To some who knew Dorothy, she was your second mother; or maybe in her later years, a second grand-mother. To everyone who knew her, Dorothy Keck was a mentor and friend. She loved her dogs, had a great eye for a good one and just embodied good sportsmanship. Sportsman A person who is fair and generous. A good loser and graceful winner. Sportsmanship Conduct becoming to a sportsman, as fitness, courteous relations and graceful acceptance of results. This year the membership was asked to give their feedback on who they felt should receive the good sportsmanship award. Many names surfaced but one name came to the forefront. I am much honored this year to present the YABTC Good Sportsmanship Award to the Members choice. This member has all the attributes of a true sportsman. She is always willing to help the new comer who has questions and concerns and guide them either in the conformation ring, rally ring or obedience ring. This member is a great mentor in Rally and Conformation and is highly regarded in her breed. She loves watching her students be successful in trials and always roots them on. She is always willing to step in whenever and whatever is needed. She makes her classes fun and puts everyone at ease always has encouragement for everything you do. Best of all she has a terrific sense of humor!! Congratulations to this year s recipient of the YABTC Good Sportsmanship Award goes to Mary Mignogna Jan 2015 Youngstown All Breed Training 7
