Bitches in season and lame hounds will be excused. Hounds not present at the time of roll call will be scratched. Muzzles are not required; it is the owner s responsibility to determine if their hound should be muzzled. Hounds must be one year or older on the day of the test or trial. Any hound that displays aggressive behavior during test hours will be excused for the day. A penalty of $5 will be assessed for any loose hound not competing in the course in process. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian s recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases and have appropriate vaccinations. Eligibility Eligible Breeds and Registry Only purebred Afghan Hounds, Basenjis, Borzoi, Greyhounds, Ibizan Hounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Italian Greyhounds, Pharaoh Hounds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Salukis Scottish Deerhounds, Sloughi and Whippets that are one year of age or older and have been registered with the American Kennel Club or an AKC recognized foreign registry or that have been granted an ILP/PAL may be entered. Effective January 1, 2008: Azawakh, Portuguese Podengo and Thai Ridgeback 1 year of age or older, that have been recorded with the Foundation Stock Service (FSS) or that have been granted al ILP/PAL are eligible to enter Lure Coursing Tests and Trials for Qualifying Courser Certification, Junior, Senior and Master Courser titles but are not eligible for championship points. Championship points are awarded toward Field Champion (FC) title General Information There will be a Port-O-John on the field Please pick up after your dog Weather in Wyoming is unpredictable-very windy, hot, snow, rain-bring rain gear, hats, and layers of clothing, sunglasses and sun screen. Tests Offered (JC AND QC) JUNIOR COURSER TEST: Open to all hounds of an eligible breed at least 12 months of age. A hound running alone shall receive a certification from a judge on one date and a second certification from a different judge at the later date, stating that the hound completed a 600 yard course with a minimum of four (4) turns. The hound must complete the course with enthusiasm and without interruption. QULIFYING COURSER CERTIFICATE: A hound at least 12 months of age (Qualifying Hound) running with another hound of the same breed or another breed with a similar running style (Testing Hound) shall receive certification from a licensed judge. The hound must complete the course with enthusiasm and without interruption, sufficiently course the lure and not course the Testing Hound. The judge will certify that Qualifying Hound ran cleanly and did not appear to present a hazard to the Testing Hound at any point in the qualifying course. This certificate is required to enter a hound in an Open Stake. The handler presenting the Qualifying Hound shall be responsible for providing the Test Hound for the qualifying course. Upon successful completion for the Qualified Courser test, the judge completes a certificate and awards it to the handler. This certificate must be submitted to the host club with the hound s first entry in a Open Stake. The certificate must be included when the results of the trail are sent to the AKC. It is strongly recommended that every Qualifying Hound have been run previously alone and that to the handler s satisfaction runs cleanly and keenly. It is additionally recommended that every Qualifying Hound practices with other hounds prior to being presented for a qualifying coursers test. It is to be understood by all that training prior to running a hound with other hounds in competition is essential to ensure that the hound is prepared to run safely with other hounds. STAKES OFFERED: Open: Open to all hounds of an eligible breed that have obtained AKC Qualified Courser Certificate. This requirement will be waived for hounds that have run in the Open Class prior to January 1, 2010. This requirement will be waived for ASFA or CKC Field Champions. Copy of Field Champion title certificate must be submitted to host club when entering first AKC Open Stake. Hounds that have earned an AKC Field championship title are not eligible to enter the Open Stake. Special: Open to all hounds that are eligible to enter the Open Stake and have earned their AKC Field Championship title. Championship points earned from Specials Stake will count toward LCX titles. Open Veteran: Open to all hound which are eligible to enter Open or Special Stakes and have reached veteran age on the day of the trial (t years for IW s, 7 years for Whippets, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, 6 years of all other breeds). Points earned in Veterans will count toward Field Championship or Lure Courser Excellence titles. Singles: Open to all sighthound breeds approved to participate in AKC Lure Coursing trials. Hounds with breed disqualifications are eligible to enter. All hounds run twice, in trios if possible or braces unless excused. Hounds not present at the time of roll call will be scratched after a 5 minute grace period. Each entry will be examined at inspection for breed disqualifications. Spayed and neutered hounds, without breed disqualifications, may be entered. Battery powered, continuous loop lure machines will be used. The lure will consist of white and/or black plastic strips. Backup equipment will be available. The members of the reserve the right to alter the course plan as required by weather and/or field conditions on the day of the event. A penalty of $5 will be assessed for any loose hound not competing in the course in progress.
