Breed disqualifications apply, except in the Singles Stake. NOTE: Italian Greyhounds, FSS breeds, and Single Stake winner are not eligible to run for Best in Field. TESTS OFFERED Junior Courser(JC) Open to all eligible sighthounds. A hound running alone must receive a certification from a judge at one event, and a second certification from a different judge at another event, with each judge stating that the hound completed a (minimum) 600-yard course with a minimum of 4 turns. Qualified Courser(QC) Open to all eligible sighthounds. The qualifying hound will run the course of a (minimum) 600-yards with a minimum of 4 turns with another hound. The qualifying hound must run the course with enthusiasm, without interruption and without interfering with, coursing, or showing aggression toward the other hound. The owner of the qualifying dog must provide or arrange for a hound of the same breed or of like running style for their hound to run with in this test. NOTE ON THE QC TEST REQUIREMENT All hounds entering the Open stake must have earned a Qualifying Courser certification. This requirement will be waived for hounds that have earned a Field Championship title from the American Sighthound Field Association (ASFA) or the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). ASFA or CKC Field Champions must submit a copy of their title certificate to the host club when they enter their first AKC Open Stake. You are responsible for finding a hound of the same breed or of like running style to run with your QC hound. Be sure to complete your portion of the Qualified Courser Certificate before your hound takes the field. It is strongly recommended that every Qualifying Hound has been run previously alone and that to the handler s satisfaction runs cleanly and keenly. It is additionally recommended that every Qualifying Hound practices with other hounds prior to being presented for a qualifying courser test. It is to be understood by all that training prior to running a hound with other hounds in competition is essential to ensure that the hound is prepared to run safely with other hounds If you are unsure or have questions about the QC test or what stakes or tests to enter, please contact Field Trial Secretary. TRIAL STAKES OFFERED Open - Open only to hounds of eligible breed, with no breed disqualifications, that hold an AKC QC certificate OR have run in the open stake prior to January 1, 2010, OR have a Senior Courser title OR have an ASFA or CKC field champion title (a copy of this title must be attached to the entry form if the QC requirement is to be waived). Championship points are awarded from this stake. Note: Hounds that have earned an AKC Field Championship title are not eligible to enter the Open Stake. Special - Open only to eligible hounds that are eligible to enter the open stake and have earned their AKC Field Championship title. LCX points are awarded from this stake. Veteran Open to all hounds which are eligible to enter Open or Special stakes and are of Veteran age. Points won from the Veteran Stake may count toward either a Field Championship or Lure Courser Excellent title. A hound that meets the age requirement for a veteran as established by the breed s parent club 6 years for all hounds; except Irish Wolfhounds = 5 years, and Whippets = 7 years; Rhodesian Ridgebacks = 7 years and Afghan Hounds = 7 years Singles - Open to all sighthound breeds approved to participate in AKC Lure Coursing trials.
