GENERAL INFORMATION 1. No entry will be accepted unless all particulars called for on the entry form are completed in full. Handlers and agents please note that the full name and address of all owners must be completed. Incomplete entries will be returned. Exhibitors must abide by errors made in entering their dogs regardless of how or by whom the entries were made. The show committee reserves the right to refuse any entry subject to CKC rules. 2. Receipts and judging schedules will be mailed as soon as possible after closing. 3. Telephone and telegraph entries are prohibited and will not be accepted, except in the case of a postal strike. 4. The Show Superintendent shall be in full charge of the show. 5. Entry of a dog cannot be canceled after entries have closed. 6. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, sick or excused by a Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee or because he is entered incorrectly. 7. The Portage Kennel Club will use due care and diligence for the welfare of the dogs and exhibitors but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of an accident or other misfortune to either dogs, exhibitors or patrons. 8. If because of riot, civil disturbance or any acts beyond the control of the Portage Kennel Club, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entries will be made. 9. All dogs must be kept under control at all times. It is the responsibility of the owner/handler to clean up after their dog in all arena areas outside. An exercise area will be provided for dogs and it is expected that this area will be used. 10. Dogs should be in the show building one hour prior to judging of their breed. It is the responsibility of the owner or handler to have the dog at ringside when it is required for judging. Handlers are requested to report any absentees and have assistants at ringside if they are engaged elsewhere. Dogs not required for further judging may be excused. 11. The building will be open from approximately 6-10:30 pm the evening prior to the first show. It will open at 7:00 am and close at 10:30 pm each day of the show. Exhibitors leaving dogs in the building do so at their own risk. ******There is NO NIGHT WATCHMAN. Leave a contact # on your crate.****** BY CITY ORDINANCE THIS IS A NON SMOKING BUILDING. This rule will be enforced. An Official Show Photographer will be in attendance, however P.K.C. will NOT be responsible for any contracts made with the photographer. MOVING CLASS DOGS TO SPECIALS A dog which is individually registered in the records of the CKC or has an ERN number at the time of closing of entries, and has completed the requirements for a championship in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 20 of the Dog Show Rules, after the closing date and time for entries for a show, but whose championship is yet unconfirmed by the CKC may transferred from one of the regular classes to Specials Only providing the transfer is submitted to the show secretary in writing at least one (1) hour prior to the opening of the show, by the owner or handler. Effective January 1994: If your dog has the required number of Championship points and you do not have your registration number before entries close, and you receive your registration BEFORE the date of the show, you may move your dog up to Specials if you provide the Show Secretary with the registration number and the dog has been entered in the classes as a LISTED dog. Listing fees however, WILL NOT be refunded An error in the class, date of birth or sex may be amended on the entry form up to one hour before the start of the show. Conformation Classifications The following Regular CKC Classes (divided by sex) will be offered JUNIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 6 months of age and under 9 months of age on the day of the show SENIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 9 months of age and under 12 months of age on the day of the show 12 TO 18 MONTHS: Shall be for dogs 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the Specialty. CANADIAN BRED CLASS - This class shall be for any dog born in Canada. (Champions of any country excluded) BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS - This class shall be for any dog owned and handled in the ring owner/breeder. The handler MUST be the owner/coowner AND breeder/co-breeder of the dog. The owner/breeder must handle the dog at the class level, but need not handle the dog for further awards OPEN CLASS - This class shall be for all dogs SPECIALS ONLY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog, which has a recorded CKC Registration or Event Registration Number and has attained the required points for Championship status. Note: A Listed dog MAY be moved to the Specials Only Class after the closing of entries, provided the CKC Individual or Event Registration Number was received prior to the first day of the show. NOVICE A - This class is open to all dogs, providing the dog has not earned the title of CD in ANY COUNTRY. One dog ONLY may be entered in this class by any one exhibitor. The exhibitor MUST BE THE OWNER or A MEMBER OF HIS/HER IMMEDIATE FAMILY and MUST SHOW THE DOG IN ALL EXERCISES. No licensed handler, trainer or any person who has previously exhibited a dog through its UD title in Canada or Elsewhere shall be allowed to compete in this class, but MUST COMPETE IN NOVICE B CLASS NOVICE B - This class is open to all dogs, which have not earned the title of CD, and may be shown by the owner or any other person. The dog may not necessarily be CKC or ERN Reg d to compete in this class NOVICE C This class is open to any dog of either sex that has gained the title Companion Dog, Companion Dog Excellent, Utility Dog or any other advanced Obedience title in Canada prior to the closing date of the trial in which it is to be entered. Exhibitors may enter more than one dog in this class but must have a separate handler for each dog in the Long Sit and the Long Down Exercises when they are judged in the same group. The Novice C exercises will be performed and judged as described in the official Novice Class except that exhibitors may compete in the Novice C Class indefinitely. Scores earned by dogs entered in the Novice C Class are not eligible for High In Trial. The P.C.D. and C.D.I. and Novice C are elective classes which are offered for those people who feel the dog requires ring experience and acclimation to the trial situation or would like to earn additional titles. Dogs may be entered in the Novice Intermediate (C.D.I.) and/or Novice C class in addition to any of the Official Classes or Unofficial Classes. NOVICE INTERMEDIATE CLASS This class shall be for all purebred dogs and those breeds as designated on the list of miscellaneous breeds and of either sex, which have earned the title of (C.D.) Companion Dog, Companion Dog Excellent, Utility Dog or any other advanced Obedience title in Canada. A dog eligible for entry in the Open A or B Class at any obedience trial held under these rules is also eligible for entry in the Novice C and Novice Intermediate Class at the same trial. The Novice Intermediate class (C.D.I.) is an elective class and earning a title is not a requirement to advance to a Companion Dog Excellent title. Scores earned by dogs competing in this class are not eligible for High In Trial. Dogs are eligible to compete in this class indefinitely. Dogs in this class may be handled or exhibited by the owner or any other person. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. OPEN A - This class is open to all dogs which have earned the title of CD IN CANADA, but have not earned the title of CDX in any country. A CKC or ERN Reg d number must be provided on the entry form at time of closing of entries to be eligible to compete in this class UTILITY CLASS A - This class is open to any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has earned the title of CDX but has not earned the title of U.D. Any person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a M.O.T.Ch title may not handle dogs in this class..this dog must be shown by the owner or a member of their immediate families. A CKC or ERN Reg d number must be provided on the entry form at time of closing of entries to be eligible to compete in this class. Owners may enter More than one dog in this class. The same person must handle the dog in all exercises. When a dog is wrongfully entered in this class, any score will be cancelled. UTILITY CLASS B - This class is open to any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has earned the title of CDX or U.D. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person.a CKC or ERN Reg d number must be provided on the entry form at time of closing of entries to be eligible to compete in this class. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. The same person must handle the dog in all exercises. No dog may be entered in both the Utility A and Utility B classes at any one trial. Prior to the start of judging, the judge will decide the order of exercises to be performed. This order will not be disclosed to exhibitors until it is posted at ringside approx. 30 minutes prior to the start of the class. The Prairie Toy Association is to present the Highest Qualifying Toy in the PKC Obedience Trial on Saturday, June 29, 2013 with a Rosette & Prize. A Rosette & Prize will be offered to the Highest Qualifying Score for a Yorkshire Terrier in the PKC Trial on Saturday, June 29, 2013.
