For more information call Pat Mozden 386-788-3800 or patmozden@cfl.rr.com BUTTERFLIES IN THE RING We Can Do This When you feel the Butterflies in your stomach, instead of saying to yourself, Oh, I m so nervous, try saying Oh, I m so excited to be showing! Most people get a thrill or a rush of adrenaline before they walk into the ring. If you didn t you would probably take up a different sport. If you get so excited that your body trembles and your feel nauseous it is probably because you are forgetting to breathe. Your body is trying to tell you that oxygen is still required, Take slow deep breaths, stand up and put on a smile. Practice your footwork or heel with your dog if he needs to be worn down or warmed up. Focus on rhythm, what the pattern is and review your visual images that help keep heeling smooth. Once you begin the heeling pattern your panic leaves. The only time you feel over anxious in the ring is when you stop walking or working the dog. Don t let your mind wander. Keep thinking WE CAN DO THIS. Always have positive thoughts in and out of the ring. What you think and act transfers down the leash to your dog. Do not think an exercise. You may have failed one exercise You do not know until it is over for sure, if you passed or failed, so think YES

Please contact Joan Costello if you are able to assist, you do not have to have experience and the instructor will let you know what they would like for you to do. Dear Members: As we move into the Holiday and End of Year Celebrations, it s a time when many of us take a moment to reflect. The 24 hour international news cycle fills our inbox with what is often more information than we want but it s also a reminder of how lucky most of us are. With the number of recent natural disasters and ongoing conflicts throughout the globe, I hope you will take time to enjoy the small corner of the world you call your own and appreciate the peace and comfort you find there. Whatever your problems may be, take a deep breath and focus on the good things in your life for a little while. Happy Holidays and Best Wishes to all OCOD members and our friends. Pat Mozden
