The ERN number must be applied for within 30 days of the first day of entering a CKC event. Forms to apply for an ERN will be available at the show. Or simply send a photocopy of the registration certificate reflecting current ownership, with a written request for an ERN number and a cheque for $58.85 payable to the: Canadian Kennel Club, Show and Trials, 100 89 Skyway Avenue, Etobicoke Ontario. SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS The show superintendent shall be in full charge of these shows. The entry of a dog cannot be altered or cancelled after entries close. Exhibitors must abide by errors made in entering their dogs, regardless of how or who made the entry. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry, subject to CKC rules. Private exercise pens will be permitted only on the approval of the show superintendent and only if space permits. Please check with the Show Superintendent. There will be designated exercise areas. Dogs are not to be exercised nor vehicles parked except where stipulated. This rule will be strictly enforced. Smoking is not allowed in the building. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, sick, lame, or in season (except in the case of an Obedience entry) or excused y the judge or veterinarian or barred from competition because it was incorrectly entered. Obedience Exhibitors: Any dog holding the American Title in a particular class must enter the "B" class in Canada in that Obedience class. Fees for a bitch in season will be refunded provided the Owner/Agent produce's a veterinarian's certificate Two hours prior to judging. The will use diligence and care for the safety for all dogs exhibited, but it cannot be responsible for the loss or damage of livestock, persons or property whether the result of accident or otherwise. Dogs not entered in the shows will not be allowed on the premises: except those meeting the "in transit" rules. Dogs not required for further judging may be excused. If because of riots, civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of the it is impossible to open or complete the show(s), NO refund of entry fees will be made. Exhibitor's information and judging schedules will be mailed out as soon possible after closing date. There will be an "In Transit" area. DOG SHOW RULE 4.1.3 A judge officiating at a show held under these rules shall not be subjected to indignities of any kind during the progress of the show. It shall be the duty and obligation of the club holding the show to see that this rule is effectively carried out. Infringements of this rule are subject to disciplinary action. DOG SHOW RULE 11.1 (UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT) It shall be deemed unsportsmanlike conduct if a person during the running of, or its connection with the event abuses or harasses a judge, show official or any other person present in any capacity at this show. CLASSIFICATIONS In all breeds recognized by the CKC the following classes will be provided for, divided by sex: Junior Puppy 6 months and under 9 months Senior Puppy - 9 months and under 12 months 12 18 months 12 months and under 18 months Canadian Bred for dogs born in Canada (Champions of any country excluded) Bred by Exhibitor dogs owned and handled in the ring BY THE BREEDER Open for all dogs Specials Only for Canadian Champions Exhibition Only for all dogs over 6 months of age and eligible for CKC registration. No two groups will be judged simultaneously CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS Section 1 - A dog awarded Winners at a championship show held under the Dog Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0-5) and the determination of the number of championship points to be accredited to a dog awarded Winners shall be provided hereunder. Section 2 - The schedule to be employed in the determination of the numbers of points to be allocated to a dog-awarded Winners shall be as follows. DOGS COMPETING 1 2 3-5 6-9 10-12 13 or more Points allocated 0 1 2 3 4 5 In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall be included in the calculation for championship points (15.1.2) The new system provides for additional points if a dog awarded Winners also places in the Group as listed below. In NO CASE may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show. In order for a dog to be recognized as a champion and its owner provided with a Championship Certificate, the dog must; (a) earn at least ten (10) championship points under 3 different judges; and (b) be individually registered in the records of the CKC or have an Event Registration Number, (c) have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed or at the group level. (15.1.13) Best Puppy in Breed Where a dog awarded Best of Breed is not a puppy; those puppies which have not been defeated either directly or indirectly by another puppy in the breed will compete for this award. Judging follows the award for Best of Breed. A puppy awarded Best Puppy in Breed is NOT required to stay to compete for Best Puppy in Group MOVING CLASS DOGS TO SPECIALS A DOG WHICH IS INDIVIDUALLY REGISTERED IN THE RECORDS OF THE Canadian Kennel Club or has an ERN Number at the time of closing of the entries, and has completed the requirements for a championship in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 20 of the Dog Show Rules, after the closing date and time for entries for a show, but whose championship is yet unconfirmed by the CKC may be transferred from one of the regular classes to Specials Only providing that the tran sfer is submitted to the Show Secretary in writing at least one (1) hour prior to the opening of the show by the owner or the handler. Effective January 1994: If your dog has the required number of championship points and you do not have your registration number before the entries close, and you receive your registration before the date of the show, you may move your dog up to Specials if you provide the show secretary with the registration number and the dog has been entered in the classes as a listed dog.
