T NKC TRACKING TEST REPORT By Shelly Rehmeier, Tracking Test Secretary he Nebraska Kennel Club held their tracking test November 11, 2012 at Chalco Hills Recreation Area in Omaha, NE. Our judges were Jerry Lewis and Becky Johnson who did a fabulous job plotting tracks considering the temperature change we had over the weekend. The test filled with 2 TD s and 5 TDX s. The day was very cold and windy. TD1 Was a German Shepherd, bitch. She had a beautiful start and strong first 3 legs. She indicated her 3 rd turn but decided to go straight then getting the whistle. Once back on, she did great. TD2 Was a Vizsla, male who wasn t able to make it past the first leg. TDX1 Was a Border Collie, male. This dog started very confidently and was strong until I lost sight of them. They made it past the cross tracks and got the first article. They ended up going off on the 4 th leg. When put back on they finished nicely. TDX2 Was a Wired Haired Pointing Griffon, male. He started well but went the wrong way at the turn. I did not hear how the team did after they restarted. TDX3 Was a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, bitch. This little girl started very strong, did a fine job with her first turn, cross track and road crossing. She ended up going off on the second turn. Once back on they finished nicely. TDX4 Was a Boxer, bitch. She started nicely with some checking then made her first turn and worked the tree line and decided the track went thru. Once on the other side, she decided to go off. Once back on she finished nicely. TDX5 Was a Golden Retriever, male. This was our passing team of the day! This team seemed to track very confidently with a few checks along the way. It wasn t until the last leg that they got off and was able to work their way back to find that oh so magical final glove! Whew!!!! They sure had us gallery folks on edge. We knew it was in the bag once we saw the boy s Happy Tail as they worked their way back. Presenting: Cima s It s Time to Catch a Wave, TD and now TDX and his proud owner Ryan Anderson. Afterward we all went back to the Resource Center and enjoyed each other s company and stories. This is why I thoroughly enjoy the sport of tracking! All of the teams were wonderful to watch. I know there will be titles for them real soon. I would like to thank Jan Hague for taking such good care of our judges and helping with hospitality. I would also like to thank all of our volunteers: Dawn Thrapp, Annie and Kari Kelley, Barbara Hill, Mary Kramer, Lynn Buckner, Jo Ann Schmidmann, Burke Morrow, Jenny Odea, Candy Webb and Sue Volkmer. A special thanks to Joe Bradley, who took fabulous pictures of plotting day and the test. We also had a very successful raffle this year. Through everyone s generosity, we were able to raise $195.00. A HUGE thanks to everyone who donated such wonderful things to make this possible. Shelly 6
