First placement in each regular stake receives an SCOA medallion. Eligible Breeds and Registry Only purebred Salukis that are one year of age or older on the day of the trial may be entered. All entries shall be individually registered with the AKC or an AKC recognized foreign registry or have been granted a Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL/ILP) number or possess a CCN from the Society for the Perpetuation of Desert Bred Salukis. Incomplete, unsigned, conditional, or late entries will NOT be accepted. Substitutes for lame or in-season hounds are allowed if the substitute has the same owner and the Field Trial Secretary is notified by 6:00AM Tuesday, June 13th 2017. Entries will NOT be acknowledged by mail. Owners must keep their hounds under control and clean up after them. VETERINARIAN: Animal Emergency Clinic (314) 822-7600 STAKES OFFERED Junior Courser: Open to any eligible Saluki one year of age or older on the date of the Test. Qualified Courser: Open to any eligible Saluki one year of age or older on the date of the Test (see Qualified Courser Certification information below). Open: Open to any eligible Saluki that has attained at least one of the following: AKC QC title, ASFA FCh, CKC FCh. Special: Open to all Salukis that are eligible to enter the Open Stake and have earned their AKC FC Title. Open Veteran: Open to any Saluki which is qualified to enter AKC lure trials. In addition the Saluki must be at least 7 years of age on the day of the trial. Single: Open to any eligible Saluki, including those disqualified to run in any of the other stakes. See 2018 Non-Regular Stake Entry form for additional non-akc non-regular stakes. QUALIFIED COURSER CERTIFICATION Open to any eligible Saluki one year of age or older (referred to as the Qualifying Hound) running with another Saluki or another breed with a similar running style (referred to as the Testing Hound) shall receive certification from a licensed judge. The Saluki must complete the course with enthusiasm and without interruption, and sufficiently course the lure and not the Testing Hound. The judge will certify that the Qualifying Hound ran cleanly and did not appear to present a hazard to the Testing Hound at any point in the qualifying course. This certification is required to enter a Saluki in the Open Stake The handler presenting the Qualifying Hound shall be responsible for providing the Testing Hound for the qualifying course. It is strongly recommended that every Qualifying Hound have been run previously alone and that to the handler s satisfaction runs cleanly and keenly. It is additionally recommended that every Qualifying Hound practice with other hounds prior to being presented for a qualifying courser test. It is to be understood by all that training prior to running a Saluki with other hounds in competition is essential to ensure that the Saluki is prepared to run safely with other hounds. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY JC Tests: JC hounds will run alone. The hound must run with enthusiasm and without interruption on a course of at least 600 yards and a minimum of 4 turns. Trial: All entries must be one year old on the day of the trial. All salukis will run twice, in trios if possible, or braces unless excused, dismissed or disqualified. Salukis that are disqualified from AKC Field Trials may not be entered, except for Single Stake. Stakes shall be split each time the entry is sufficient to hold two (2) or more five (5) point majors. Hounds not present at roll call will be scratched. Bitches in-season and lame hounds will be excused. Spayed or neutered Salukis are eligible to compete. Monorchid or cryptorchid Salukis are ineligible to compete. A battery powered, continuous loop machine will be used. The lure will consist of plastic strips. The course will be reversed for finals, tie run-offs and BOB. SCOA reserves the right to alter the course as required by weather and/or field conditions. A $10.00 fine will be assessed for any hound loose on the field not competing in the course in progress. Any person, upon reasonable complaint, will be asked to leave the grounds of the field trial by the Field Trial Committee, and will forfeit entry fee(s), and may be disciplined by the AKC. The FTS will be onsite starting Friday June 1st, 2018 to accept last minute entries. All lure coursing entries (ASFA events, AKC events, and Puppy Fun Run) must be sent to the FIELD TRIAL SECRETARY! The field is completely fenced, but is also used as a pasture for cows and sheep. Water will be available for cooling Salukis. Shade is limited. Parking will be confined to the gravel parking lot and gravel roads. DIRECTIONS TO From St. Louis: Take I-44 west to the Gray Summit exit (Hwy 100). Go north on Hwy 100 until you spot Hwy MM and the Purina Farms sign. Turn left onto Hwy MM and go approx 3/4 mile until you reach the Purina Sheep & Cattle Barns on the left (silo on the right). Field is behind the barns. From Kansas City: Take I-70 east to the Warrenton exit (Hwy 47). Go south on Hwy 47 until you reach Hwy 100 in Washington. Turn left onto Hwy 100 and continue to I-44. Go east on I-44.
