THE PROVIDENCE COUNTY KENNEL CLUB IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE GREATER LOWELL KENNEL CLUB IS PLEASED TO SPONSOR THE FOLLOWING JUDGES EDUCATION SEMINARS AT THEIR FIRST ALL BREED MINI-CLUSTER CONFORMATION AND OBEDIENCE SHOW You do not have to be a licensed judge to attend these seminars. Pre-Registration is recommended to ensure that space is available. Attendees will be accepted on a first to apply basis. Only 25 people will be admitted to each class seminar. Discounts are available to those who register for three (3) or more seminars and before July 12, 2018. Attendees may register on the day of the seminar provided there is space available but no discounts will be given at that time. Hands on opportunities will be available. FRIDAY JULY 27, 2018: KINGSTON, RHODE ISLAND PAPILLONS Presenters: Sandra Walker and Roseann Fucillo Scheduled to begin at 2:30pm. Cost: $35 About the Presenters: Sandra Walker is a Biogist/ Lab Manager by profession, (educated at Cornell University (BA) and Syracuse University (MS)) and retired from Biogen Idec after a successful launch of a new hemophilia pharmaceutical. She began her AKC career as a teenage obedience exhibitor with a standard poodle, having found her parent s Bedlingtons a bit difficult to train. She entered the world of Papillons and joined the Papillon Club of America in 1979 and is in the PCA Hall of Fame three times as both breeder and exhibitor. Her first Pap, (Am/Can CH & OTCH Josandre Touch of Mischief bred by Mary Jo Loye and Pearl George) is the only multiple group winning OTCH in the history of the toy group. She is also the breeder of the first dog to win BOB and HIT at the PCA National Specialty. Sandra has judged Papillons all over the US and all over the world, including the PCA National Specialty and most of the regional specialties, and is dedicated to teaching the AKC standard. She has been on the Judges Education Committee three times and has been AKC Gazette columnist. And she has been PCA s recipient of the Dog World Award for Service. Sandra was approved to judge Papillons in 1990 and is currently approved to judge all obedience, Working group, Toy group and most of the Herding group. Roseann Fucillo was born and raised in Massachusetts and presently calls Allendale, NJ her home. She has a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and an MA from Seton Hall University. Presently retired from teaching, she began her career as a fashion designer working in NYC on Seventh Avenue designing Junior sportswear. Instead of painting and designing, she merged her love for art with her love for Papillons using her artistic eye for proportion and beauty. With a small breeding program, she has bred nearly fifty AKC Papillon Champions plus many titled performance dogs in obedience and agility since 1977. A retired teacher, and former fashion designer, Roseann continues to educate on the Papillon breed with mentoring and writing articles, mainly for the AKC Gazette Papillon column since 2003 to the present. She is a PCA HLM, a former Corresponding Secretary and Judge s Education Chair. And presently, is a member of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club of UK, DWAA, PPC, PKC, and Secretary of the KCNNJ.
SATURDAY JULY 28, 2018 POINTERS Presenter: Susan Bleckley Scheduled to begin at 8:30am. Cost: $35 About the Presenter: SUSAN BLECKLEY Susan Bleckley started in pure bred dogs in 1971 when she purchased and finished her very first Doberman Pinscher. In 1973 she fell in love with Pointers and finished her first Pointer, Ch. Truewithem Barnstormer. Susan went on to start breeding with this foundation bitch. In the years that followed she and her late husband finish over 25 Pointer champions carrying the Truewithem kennel name. In the late 70 s Susan proudly campaigned the Best In Show winning Pointer Ch. Cumbrian Black Pearl. Susan s breeding and exhibiting efforts in Pointer champions lead to the American Pointer Club nominating and voting her to judge the Futurity/Maturity in 1999 & 2011. Susan continued advancing the mission of the American Kennel Club by supporting education and breeding of pure-bred dogs. The American Pointer Club has appointed her to Chair the Judges Education Committee since 2013. Prior to 2013 she had served on the committee for over 10 years. In addition to her passion in Pointers, during her life time in conformation showing, she has owned and finished Basset Hounds, Smooth Fox Terriers and a Whippet. While devoted to her beloved Pointers, Susan also has wide diversity in the animal kingdom. Susan is also an equestrian and while she promotes the education policy of the American Pointer Club she still finds the time and energy to exhibit the number one Tri-State New England Morgan Horse Road Hack Champion. SATURDAY JULY 28, 2018 POMERANIANS Presenter: Jan Stachursky Scheduled to begin at 10:45am. Cost: $35 About the Presenter: JAN STACHURSKI Jan Stachurski got his first Pomeranian as a rescue in 1988. Soon thereafter he threw himself into the sport of pure bred AKC conformation showing of Pomeranians. By 1991 he had his first champion in parti pom, Ch. Ch Ursa Minor s Touch of Class, which he co-owned with breeder Barbara Krzewicki. Since then Jan has bred and owned 15 champions and campaigned a number of them to top 20 rankings. Devoted to the breed, Jan is a member of the National Club and is one of its approved Mentors. A breeder judge, he also is an approved permit judge in Affenpinchers, Papillons and Pugs. In addition to his passion for the breed, Jan started his love of animals and the joy of competing with them in the 1970 with his prized canaries. He has been involved in breeding, exhibiting and judging type Canaries since 1976. Jan was awarded the prestigious Kellogg Trophy (equivalent to a Group One at Westminster) in 1991.
SATURDAY JULY 28, 2018 NORWEGIAN ELKHOUNDS Presenter: Ed Hall Scheduled to begin at 1:15pm. Cost: $35 About the Presenter: ED HALL Ed has bred and exhibited Norwegian Elkhounds with his family for over 57 years under the Somerri Kennels, Reg prefix. The kennel has finished 79 champions and all but 3 were bred by them. The kennel is currently in the 14 th generation of breeding with top 10 winning dogs in this generation also. In 1971 Ed graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.A. degree in Zoology. He has been a member of the Norwegian Elkhound Association of America since 1965. Ed is a charter member of the Norwegian Elkhound Minuteman Association (since 1977). He is a member of the Merrimack Valley Kennel Club (since 1965) and of the Dog Judges Association of America. Since 1973 he has been an AKC licensed judge of Norwegian Elkhounds and now also judges the entire Hound Group, 26 Working Breeds and is approved to judge a total of 76 breeds. His career with Kenmore Philatelic Inc, a mail order firm dealing in postage stamps for collectors, has spanned 46 years. He is currently Vice-President, but in the process of gradually retiring to provide more time for judging.
SUNDAY JULY 29, 2018 WEIMARANERS Presenter: Jennifer Martin Scheduled to begin at 8:30 am. Cost: $35 About the Presenter JENNIFER MARTIN Jennifer Martin s entire life has centered on dogs, horses, and animals. As a young girl she cleaned kennels for a pack of foxhounds, worked for the local vet, and was a tour guide for the Oklahoma City Zoo. Jennifer had a passion for horses and traveled extensively riding, training, and managing several barns until an injury ended the career that she loved. Never to be daunted, Jennifer and her husband got their first two Weimaraners in 1989 and looked into conformation showing. The rest was history! As a team Jennifer and her husband Curtis finished their first AKC Champion in 1992 and since that time, she has gone on to be a Breeder, an Owner, a Handler of Multiple Best in Show and Multiple Best in Specialty Show, WCA Futurity and Maturity winners, and co-owned a WCA National Specialty winner. Jennifer attributes one of her greatest honors to serve the WCA as the Judges Education Chair. She is currently a member of the Breeders Education Committee, Lifetime Achievement Committee, an approved AKC Judges Mentor, and a 27 year member of the WCA. Featured in this photo taken this past August 2017 are the things of which she is most proud...her 29 years of marriage and the 5 generations of dogs!
SUNDAY JULY 29, 2018 SAMOYEDS Presenter: Tom Delaney Scheduled to begin at 10:45am. Cost: $35 About the Presenter TOM DELANEY The Providence County and Greater Lowell Kennel Clubs in conjunction with the Samoyed Club of America and the Minuteman Samoyed Club are all pleased to present Tom Delaney as the Samoyed Judges Education lecturer and mentor. Tom is an accomplished expert in the Samoyed breed. Tom and his wife Beverly got their first show Samoyed from Northwind Kennels in 1979. They began showing a few years later and established their kennel, Ala-Kasam Samoyeds, in 1983. Since that time Tom and Beverly have shown and finished 30 champions. Adding to that impressive statistic, 25 of these fine animals were home bred. True to the sport of conformation show dogs, Tom and Beverly are owner handlers and they have owner handled numerous top 10 dogs over the years including: BISS GCHS Ala-Kasam s Spirit of the Snow WS & BISS CH Ala-Kasam s Star Gazer CD. Several of their champions also have obedience, agility, and working titles. Tom has 2 ROMX dams and the top brood bitch of 2008. Tom and Beverly are AKC breeders of merit. Tom is an approved mentor by the Samoyed Club of America, he is an approved member of their Judges Education Program and he is one of the foremost knowledgeable people regarding type and body mechanics in the breed. Among Tom s many accomplishments he has served as: Officer of the Samoyed Club of America Board member of the Samoyed Club of America Officer of the Minuteman Samoyed Club Board Member Minuteman Samoyed Club Member of the Mid-Hudson Kennel Association Member of the Shawangunk Kennel Club Officer and member of the Associated Dog Clubs of NY.
SUNDAY JULY 29, 2018 BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOGS Presenter: Sandra Walker Scheduled to begin at 1:30pm. Cost: $35 About the Presenter: Sandra Walker began her AKC career as a teenage obedience exhibitor with a standard poodle, having found her parent s Bedlingtons a bit difficult to train. She entered the world of conformation with a Papillon and became a conformation judge in 1990. The first Berner came in 1995 from Dawn Hitchcock, a collaboration that lasted for years. That bitch was the junior futurity winner and foundation of the Bedmark breeding program. Sandra has exhibited her dogs in conformation, obedience and agility, as a dog who complies with the standard should be a solid all-around farm dog capable of many types of work. Sandra has judged a number of BMD specialties on both coasts and is a strong supporter of Berne-garde. She is a parent club approved mentor and has assisted at the BMDCA judges education seminar and hands-on. Sandra was approved to judge Bernese Mountain Dogs in 1997 and is currently approved to judge all obedience, Working group, Toy group and most of the Herding group
