DOES YOUR LOCAL CHURCH HAVE A MINISTRY WITH THERAPY DOGS??? As a Pastor for 40 years, and as a Dog Trainer for 50 years, I am seeking to work with Local Church Ministries and their congregations who desire to learn how to care for people with emotional, physical and spiritual needs, by using THERAPY DOGS! * * * 1
Luke 16:19-21 There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores." God spoke: "Let us make human beings in Our image, make them reflecting Our nature so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth." [Genesis 1:26] O LORD, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom have You made them all; the Earth is full of Your creatures. [Psalm 104:24] * * * We have a responsibility given to us by our Wise Creator to be wise in the care and control we exercise over every animal that moves on the face of the Earth - this includes the dogs we all own! Only a well trained and obedient dog, reflects the wisdom of a responsible dog owner!!! 2
CONSIDER THE JOY AND BLESSING OF HAVING A TRAINED AND CERITFIED THERAPY DOG TO WORK WITH IN A MINISTRY THAT REACHES OUT TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, PEOPLE IN DIFFICULT PLACES IN LIFE, AND PEOPLE WHO WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE OF GOD'S CANINE CREATURES MINISTER TO THEIR NEEDS, ALONG WITH YOUR TENDER HUMAN TOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My own dear mother, "Betty," suffered with the affliction of Alzheimer's Disease, for 10 years! I often went with one of the Therapy Dogs I was training, to the elder care home where she lived, to visit with her and some of the other residents who lived there. [Mom loved dogs! This German Shepherd Dog, "DEITRICH," brought an engaging smile into Mom's life!] This was a "Rescue Dog," from a shelter, that I trained to work at a Nursing Care Facility. 3
Here is an article describing the work that Nan and her dog, "Gabby," do to help children... Gabby & Nan also visit people at Nursing Care Homes. 4
Here is Molly with her Certified Therapy Dog, "STRYKER," enjoying a visit with this happy man. [My own formerly owned dog, "GINGER," is also a Certified Therapy Dog. She is in the foreground of this picture.] This is a sign with a picture of my formerly owned dog, "KIPPER!" 5
Kipper is now owned by Linda. She works at the University of Michigan Hospital, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Kipper is a Certified Therapy Dog that works daily at "U of M" to help lend a paw to meet different people, young and older alike, and to give them a very bright spot in their day! 6
In this picture, my German Shepherd Dog, "Trooper #1," (my Service Dog in training), brought a group of young people into my company at a shopping mall. THERAPY DOGS make open doors for us as people, to meet and minister to other people, in all kinds of places. This picture is of my other GSD, "TROOPER 2." Trooper was a K9 friend to this gentleman who came almost daily to a local library to find companionship. TROOPER is a "MINISTRY DOG," and not just a "THERAPY DOG! 7
