The Russell Terrier is feisty and playful with an enormous amount of energy and a strong instinct for hunting. Originating in England and developed in Australia, the breed was used for fox hunting as well as finding vermin below ground. They are small, confident, and highly intelligent dogs that are devoted and loving family companions. Dog owners may list the suffix, "CGC" after the dog s name. Since the program began in 1989, CGC has been considered an "award," meaning that it has not been listed on a dog s title record. Charles State and Local News Oklahoma Experiencing Sharp Rise in Rabies Cases Veterinarians and state agriculture leaders are urging pet and livestock owners to be cautious about rabies. So far this year, the state has seen 54 rabies cases, which is nearly double the number for the same time period last year. Cases have been confirmed in 34 Oklahoma counties. Pet owners are urged to watch out for aggressive behavior and unexpected irritability in their animals. Livestock owners are also urged to watch out for horses and cattle. Dr. Dave Sparks, Veterinarian, said, "The main way that it is spread is through the saliva. And any kind of cut or scrape or break in the skin, that virus is going to come in, and that's not what we want to see." Veterinarians say animals and people in more suburban locations could especially be at risk, because those areas are increasingly becoming a mix of family pets, livestock and wildlife. http://www.newson6.com/story/18968220/pet-owners-urged-to-be-aware-of-increase-in-rabies-cases Onofrio Show Closings for August August 1st Enumclaw, WA August 15 th Cheyenne, WY August 29 th Jackson, MS * Toy Dogs Only Topeka, KS Amana, IA Amarillo, TX Greeley, CO Lexington, KY Mesquite, TX* Southaven, MS August 8 th Lake Elmo, MN Houston, TX* Monroe, LA August 22 nd Elk City, OK Greeley, CO Des Moines, IA Chino Valley, AZ Gray Summit, MO East Ridge, TN Rochester, MN Farmington, UT + Old English Sheepdogs only Atlanta, GA Roswell, NM Topeka, KS Biloxi, MS West Bend, WI +
