Mint Foster to Adopt *** Foster to Adopt *** Gender: Color: Age: Male Black 8 weeks Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: High (puppy) Yes Yes Yes Phoenix Morgan Phone: 305-389-6397 Mr. Mint has a wide white blaze on his nose, and a curious nature - he likes to explore the yard and the garage. But he always comes running when dinner is served! It s all about the fun with this playful and energetic cookie. This lab mix was rescued at the top of the new year in a shed in Tucson with mom, Cookie, and 7 littermates. The pups are about 8 weeks old and are looking for their forever family through our foster-to-adopt program. They will be ready to leave their nest later in February. This sweetie requires a family where someone is home most of the time for belly rubs and snuggles, space for supervised running and playing, time and patience for potty training, the commitment to providing ongoing training and regular exercise, toys to curb destructive chewing, and the willingness to live with puppy mistakes. DLRR FOSTER TO ADOPT PUPPIES These puppies are available to adopters who want to participate in our foster to adopt program. This means that the pups are ready to be spoken for and will go to their adoptive families later in February, but they will be owned by DLRR until 22 they are old enough to be neutered or spayed, which will be completed at DLRR expense at one of our vets offices. After they are neutered or spayed, their adoptions will be completed. If you are interested in fostering to adopt one of the puppies, please call their contact to set up a showing.

Bear (22) & Monique Gender: Bear Male Monique Female Age: 1.5 Color: Black Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: High Unknown Yes Unknown Phoenix Clinton Phone: 951-537-7337 Additional Information: Bear and Monique were turned in by their owner because they lost their family home. They are sweet Lab mixes and a bonded pair. These 1.5 year old siblings are good with dogs, crate trained, housebroken and good on leash. They are still pups so can be rambunctious and need lots of exercise and training so they know how to behave appropriately. They have not met cats, so unsure of how they might react to them. These kids are currently in a kennel because no fosters are available and they are very scared and bark out loudly, but they warm up quickly when they know you are a good guy. Because they have always been together, DLRR wants to keep them together, so you can adopt two dogs for $325! Twice the fun and you only pay for one! They're up to date on all shots, microchipped, neutered or spayed and ready to go into an active home and become part of the family. Call their contact to schedule to meet these black and white kids. Bear will be at the PACC911 and Petco Pavilion Pet Adoptathon in Scottsdale this Saturday, March 3. Come and meet him and other DLRR labbies that are needing a furever home. 23

Bentley (6) Gender: Male Age: 6 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: 83 lbs. Low Unknown Yes Unknown Phoenix David/Nancy Phone: 602-546-7608 Additional Information: Hiya! My name is Bentley and I must say, I am a rather soft and sleek white 6 year old lab and joined the DLRR family in September with a large mass which one of the DLRR Vet angels removed. As you can see from my pictures, my head is let s say of a unique shape, and I ve been told that while I have a genetic disorder, that doesn t stop me from being a typical, sweetloving labbie. Like humans, I come with some imperfections and my hope is to find a fur-ever family that will accept me as I am and love all the things about me. I like to think of myself as a refined labbie and am pretty quiet but really enjoy hanging with my foster family since December. Now, when there is an opportunity to play fetch in the backyard or go for daily walks, I m all in and I must say those are my favorite things to do. My big foster labbie brother has been a real hoot (and a bit goofy) to be around but he lets me just be me. Although we do tolerate each other, I m not as keen about my small foster fur-sibling so it s probably best that my fur-ever family do not have small dogs or cats. My foster Mum and Dad says I m housebroken, non-destructive and trustworthy when left uncrated and am a very sweet soul (which I have to modestly agree) to have around. I have not yet been around young kids or pools. If you fancy to be my fur-ever family and would like more information, please contact my foster folks. Cheerio! I ll be at the PACC911 and Petco Pavilion Pet Adoptathon 24 in Scottsdale this Saturday, March 3. Come and meet me and other DLRR labbies that are needing a furever home. Shelby (6) Gender: Female Age: 6 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Medium Yes (older) No No Phoenix Sharon Phone: 602-370-1565 Additional Information: Hi there! My name is Shelby and I am an absolutely beautiful, svelte and loving female of approximately six years of age. My favorite things are swimming, retrieving tennis balls, enjoying a good meal, lounging in the sun but mostly, I love to give and receive love. Some might say I am a velcro dog! Honestly, I am a very special girl with special needs. In the last couple of years, my owner has exposed me to other dogs, and while things seem to go well at first, ultimately I become very jealous of any attention they receive and well, I behave badly. I am embarrassed to admit that I have bitten multiple dogs that my owner has fostered and made clear that I need to be not only the top dog, but the only dog. I would love to find a family where someone is around most of the time but without young children. I love taking long walks, I travel well in the car, and enjoying camping and other outdoor activities. I also love quiet time, just being close to my people while they go through their day. I have very good house manners. I am doggy door trained but also completely housebroken and will let you know when I need to go outside. You can trust me in your home as I am respectful of your belongings, stay off the furniture and would never ever chew anything other than my toys! If you think you might be my forever home, please call my foster mom! 25 March 2, 2018 www.dlrrphoenix.org

Jake (26) Gender: Male Age: 2 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Medium Unknown Yes (see notes) Unknown Tucson Tim Phone: 520-885-1635 Addional Informaon: Jake is a chocolate lab that will be 3 years old this May. He just came out of a 3 month VET HOLD for wounds he received from either a coyote or javelina (wild pig). When he was found in Casa Grande, the wounds were so substantial to his left, rear leg that they thought they may have to amputate. Luckily, Jake only lost 2 toes and still "tripods" when he walks. The Vet said his wounds are totally healed and all Xrays look good, but that if he doesn't use the leg again, he would be fine because he gets along on 3 very well. I think he will use it eventually because I've noticed small improvements in the past month. Whereas at first he would only use it to squat, I noticed he would get a little playful with me in the backyard and run around using his leg as if he forgot about the wound. Recently I acquired another foster dog and to my surprise, the 2 dogs were out in the yard playfully chasing each other as if there was nothing wrong with his leg. I think it's more psychological and less physical for him now. Jake is housebroken, still a little skittish around new people or dogs; but can you blame him for what he's been through. When I first picked him up to Foster him, he stayed in my bathroom for a week and wouldn't look at me. I had to pick him up to bring him outside every few hours because he wouldn't trust to follow me. Now he has run of the house, listens to me, and after a day or so gets along with my new Foster dog. Jake will make a fine pet for anyone who has the time and patience to initially get to know him, and for him to get to know you. 26

Moka (2) Gender: Female Age: 8 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: 55 lbs. Medium Yes (older) Unknown (younger) Yes (see notes) Unknown Tucson Liz Phone: 520-318-0062 Addional Informaon: Moka is a female lab with a beautiful chocolate coat. Moka is about 8 years old and 55 lbs. She came to Desert Labrador from the pound in New Mexico so we do not know much of her past. She is a very sweet loving dog, she loves people and to give them kisses. She has been house trained, has learned to use our doggy door and knows how to sit and is crate trained. She travels well in the car too. She appears to be good with other dogs but is dominant, which is a behavior that will need to be worked with if going to a home with other dogs. My two male dogs have been very tolerant of her dominant behavior but it is something that can be overcome with training. She does love people and follows us around the house constantly, she has been around older kids and is very tolerant of being handled by them. She has not tried to get on any furniture even though she loves to be by your side. She does love food and will take food from someone s hand if she has the chance and may counter surf if food is near to the edge, again something that training will help with. She does not pull on the leash but needs some help knowing manners so she walks better on the leash and under the owners control. She has not been around cats so do not know how she would do. We do not have a 27 pool so do not know if she is a swimmer.

Aaden Gender: Male Age: 5 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Medium Yes (older) See notes Unknown Phoenix Patricia Phone: 623-572-9395 Addional Informaon: Aaden is from the Nogales pound and ISO (in search of) a new home. He's a beautiful 5 year old, chocolate boy who has had all shots and been neutered. Aaden is a loving, super sweet, happy and affectionate dog that craves attention and wags his tail all the time. He thinks he is a lap dog, but he is big and strong. He should not go to a home with small children, but older kids are ok. A slow introduction to other dogs is needed as he can be picky about who he wants to hang out with. Aaden needs work on leash and doesn't know any commands, so training would be a must for this guy. He goes into a crate without issues. No signs of destruction or anxiety but with any rescue, the first couple of weeks he should be monitored closely until trustworthy. Aaden hasn't been left alone yet for more than very short periods of time but no signs of being destructive or showing anxiety. If you are interested in meeting this hunk of chocolate love, contact his foster right away. I ll be at the PACC911 and Petco Pavilion Pet Adoptathon in Scottsdale this Saturday, March 3. Come and meet me and other DLRR labbies that are needing a furever home. 28

DLRR Black Pearls DLRR is committed to saving the lives of Labrador Retrievers, but perhaps these black dogs are the ones who need us most because they simply do not get noticed. According to the President of the Los Angeles SPCA, black dogs are: the hardest to adopt out, they are in shelters the longest and therefore, they are most likely to be euthanized if nothing happens. This unfortunate phenomenon has a name: Black Dog Syndrome. If you are thinking about adopting a dog, please don t overlook black dogs, they are just as loving and wonderful as lighter colored dogs! To find out more please visit www.blackpearldogs.com 29

Rosie (9) Gender: Female Age: 11 Weight: Activity Level: Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: 43 lbs. Medium Yes Yes (see notes) Yes Phoenix Laura Phone: 519-503-4657 Addional Informaon: Meet Rosie9! This little lady is 11 years young and through no fault of her own is looking for a new family. Any family whether they are looking for a senior or not will love her. Rosie9 is still very active for her age and enjoys frequent walks and belly rubs. She becomes a 43 pound lap dog to all who will let her, including children of all ages. Rosie9 doesn t seem to mind other dogs but I m sure would prefer the company of a lower energy playmate. I ve been told she is good with cats as well. Other than having a few teeth pulled, Rosie9 is in great health for her age and will no doubt provide endless love to whoever adopts her. Contact her foster parents today to learn more and set up a meeting. I ll be at the PACC911 and Petco Pavilion Pet Adoptathon in Scottsdale this Saturday, March 3. Come and meet me and other DLRR labbies that are needing a furever home. 30
