2014 AEDCA NATIONAL ATIONAL SPECIALTY Like us on Facebook at AEDCA 2014 National Specialty and join the conversation. AGILITY We are holding two independent specialty agility trials for Eskies-only, one each on Friday and Saturday afternoons. We will need volunteers to man the trial setting bars, running leashes, etc. If you only do conformation this is a great chance to get an up close and personal immersion into agility. Come watch our beautiful dogs run! Banquet The banquet will be a catered buffet in the Purina Event Center Founders room, Saturday evening, May 3. Details and reservation information will be available in the Premium list and the next issue of the Review. Vegetarian options will be available upon request. We expect pricing to be around $23. Fundraiser: Raffle and Auction Donations are being accepted for the raffle and auction. These are separate events and we need donations for both. Melissa Potts is the contact person at 618-709-3736. Money raised from these events goes to support putting on the National. The raffle will be held during the day on either Friday or Saturday. Consider donating items of general dog interest in addition to Eskie themed items to encourage people with other breeds to share their bucks with us, err participate. The auction will be held during the banquet on Saturday evening. Eskie themed items, especially original artworks and crafts and unique or historic items are especially popular and generate lively bidding. Lower ticket items are also welcomed to allow everyone to participate in the fun. Hotel: Travelodge Six Flags A block of rooms has been reserved at the Travelodge Six Flags in Gray Summit, MO. To obtain our rate of $79 per night (standard room, 2 double beds) and NO dog fee you must contact the hotel directly and give them our block name AEDCA. 636-742-3501. HERDING SEMINAR AND AHBA HERDING CAPABILITY TEST AT THE 2014 NATIONAL SPECIALTY Date Thursday May 1, 2014 What is it? An seminar introduction to herding in the morning followed by a herding capability test in the afternoon. Where is it? At the Purina Farms Herding Field, 0.5 miles from the National Specialty show site. The property borders the main show grounds but can not be accessed from there. It has a separate entrance before you reach Purina (i.e. closer to the interstate). Requirements. The event is for Eskies only. Dogs do not have to be separately registered with AHBA. You may use their AKC registration number for identification. Before dogs are permitted to be tested with the sheep, they will be required to show ability to be controlled by performing a recall and a stand, sit, or down while in the ring with the sheep. People herding ducks! This special event is offered as part of the seminar as a fun event and a way for people to better understand what we are asking our dogs. We will be taking pictures! If you wish to herd a duck, you must sign up below. If we have more people interested than there are ducks, priority will be given to those people who will be testing their dogs on the sheep. Lunch. We will be breaking for lunch. Box Lunches will be catered on site and are available for an additional fee (pre-order only). This is for convenience as there are no nearby dining options and we can t hold up the event waiting for people to return, the event will carry on. Your other option is to brown-bag it. Registration. Total registration is limited to 30 dogs and will be taken in the order received with payment. To allow as many people to participate as possible early registration will be limited to 2 dogs per family. If we do not reach the 30 dog maximum, additional dogs per family will be welcomed.
