Entries without fees cannot be accepted. ENTRIES NOT ON OFFICIAL AKC FORMS or photocopies of entry forms without the agreement and rules on the reverse side of the Official AKC entry forms are NOT ACCEPTABLE. Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing or by telegram prior to the close of entries. Changes which are received on the telephone are unacceptable. OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ERRORS on entry blanks, and for entering the same dog twice, or for entering a dog in a class in which it is ineligible to compete, regardless of who makes such errors. CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY & SCHEDULE OF JUDGING TIME will be sent to the address or e-mail address on the Official AKC Entry Form after the closing date. If an exhibitor has not received a copy of the Schedule of Judging seven days prior to the show, the Show Secretary should be contacted. Effective for all shows held on or after July 1, 1991, dogs may be moved FROM ONE DIVISION OF THE PUPPY CLASS TO ANOTHER or a CORRECTION TO THE SEX OF A DOG may be made, or a dog, which according to their owners' records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for the show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to Best of Breed or Variety competition, provided this transfer is made by the Show Secretary one half hour prior to the start of any regular conformation judging at the show. (American Kennel Club Rules, Chapter 14, Section 6.) DOGS NEED TO BE AT THE SHOW only at scheduled time of judging and may leave immediately after unless required for further judging. DOGS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING. The club and/or its Show Secretary will not be responsible for, and are not obligated to furnish any service, for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class judging. Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or their agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring. THE SHOW-GIVING CLUB, THE SHOW SECRETARY, their agents or employees assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, spectators, or to any of their dogs or property, and further assume no responsibility for injury to any child not under the control of their parents or guardians. No tents, large umbrellas, or equipment of any sort will be allowed within 10 feet of any ring. Grooming must be done away from the judging rings in areas designated by the Club. ENTRY FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED in event of errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date, nor in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, in season, excused by the veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by the show committee. If because of weather, riots, civil disturbances, fire, Act of God, act of a public enemy, strikes, or any other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry fee(s) will be made. This Club and Secretary assume no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or agent of the owner. This Club and Secretary assume no responsibility for the owner or owner's agent entering a dog in a class in which the dog is not eligible to compete, nor for entering the same dog twice. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians' recommendations to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. CLASSIFICATION The following classes are divided by sex: Puppy, 6 months and under 9 months Puppy, 9 months and under 12 months Twelve to Eighteen Months Novice Amateur Owner-Handler Bred By Exhibitor American Bred Open Winners Non-Regular Classes Involving Single Dog Entries Field/Hunt Trial Dogs Field/Hunt Trial Bitches Open to all Irish Setters with either a Hunt Test title or a Field Trial Placement Winners of these classes are eligible to compete in Best of Breed Competition. Veteran Dogs Veteran Bitches (Veterans for dogs or bitches 7 years of age or older) Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches may compete in the Veterans Classes only at independent specialties. (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 11, Section 8) BEST OF BREED For dogs that are Champions of Record or dogs which have completed the requirements for a championship according to owners records but have not been confirmed by AKC. AWARD OF MERIT The Irish Setter Club of Southern California is offering Awards of Merit to enable judges, at their discretion to recognize and acknowledge deserving exhibits in Best of Breed competition, but who were not awarded Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex. The number of awards will be as follows: One Award of Merit - 4-6 Champions. Two Awards of Merit - 7-11 Champions. Three Awards of Merit - 12-16 Champions. Four Awards of Merit - 17-23 Champions. Five Awards of Merit - 24 or more Champions. BEST PUPPY FROM THE REGULAR CLASSES Best Puppy will be selected from the First Place winners of the 6-9 mos and 9-12 mos Classes, Dogs & Bitches. BEST BRED BY EXHIBITOR (BBE) AND CLASS ELIGIBILITY. Best BBE will be selected from the First Place winners from the BBE Dog and Bitch class. Bred By Exhibitor Class Eligibility: 1. All dogs entered in the Bred by Exhibitor class must be individually registered with the AKC. 2. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog and 3) family members must be both a breeder and owner of record to exhibit in this class. NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES Stud Dog Brood Bitch Dogs or Bitches entered in these classes must show in the ring with two of their get or produce. Get or produce must be entered in a Regular class, Best of Breed or other Non- Regular Class. Winner of these classes is not eligible to compete in Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. - 5 - JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP Novice Junior Novice Intermediate Novice Senior Open Junior Open Intermediate Open Senior Master NOVICE JUNIOR CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three first places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. NOVICE INTERMEDIATE: Same as above, except for ages 12 to 15 years. NOVICE SENIOR: Same as above, except for ages 15 to 18 years. OPEN JUNIOR CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three first places in a Novice Junior Showmanship Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN INTERMEDIATE Same as above, except for ages 12 to 15 years. OPEN SENIOR CLASS: Same as above, except for ages 15 to 18 years. MASTER - This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won the 10 first place wins in an Open class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be November 1 - October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year. AKC NATIONAL OWNER-HANDLED SERIES The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not professional handlers. All dogs that are owner-handled and are not owned, co-owned or exhibited by professional handlers* meet the requirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. Eligible dogs will be identified by an asterisk in the steward s book & the catalog. Dogs must be handled throughout the breed level competition for the regular show by an eligible owner. Professional handlers, household members and assistants to current professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in any breed competition during the entire show. Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and winners of the non-regular classes. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is Owner-Handled competition eligible, it will automatically be Owner-Handled Best Of Breed/Variety and be eligible to compete in both the regular as well as the Owner-Handled group. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is not eligible for Owner-Handled competition and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety are Owner-Handled competition eligible and Select Dog & Select Bitch are both eligible, the judge is to choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the Selects and eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch. If one of the Selects is eligible, excuse all champions and non-regular class winners of the same sex and then choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the remaining dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible winner. If Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog & Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog remaining in the ring including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. DAY OF SHOW PARKING INFORMATION Some parking areas may be some distance from your ring(s). An unloading area will be provided. Please follow the instructions of parking attendants. Day-of-Show parking will be $10.00 per space. Vehicles requiring more than one space (motor homes, etc.) will be parked in the day-of-show overflow parking lot and will be charged $10.00 per space used. No overnight parking will be allowed in the day of show parking lots. Anyone not following KCPS rules risks having his/her vehicle towed at owners expense. No abusive behavior will be tolerated. KCPS and Empire Polo Club assume no responsibility for fire, theft or damage to vehicles or cargo, whether legally or illegally parked. Overnight parking is not permitted on the streets in Indio. Valet parking will be available. New Towing Policy: Cars parked in the unloading zone will be towed without any public announcement. RALLY RING The Rally Ring will be approximately of 40 x 60 (2400 square feet). ELECTRICAL POWER INFORMATION: POWER WILL BE AVAILABLE IN OVERNIGHT PARKING AREAS ONLY. The cost is $45.00 (for 30 amps) per night 2-night minimum (or $90.00 for two 30-amps). OVERNIGHT PARKING INFORMATION There are three overnight parking areas: two are adjacent to the show area and one is some distance away. Most of the parking is on decomposed granite. One limited area is on grass. Spaces assigned in order received. Balance will be parked in decomposed granite arena. Vehicles parked on grass will be required to have power, as no generators are allowed on the grass, per Empire Polo Club. No dumping of gray water or sewage is allowed. There will be a $25.00 charge for any returned checks. Please note the following parking requirements/restrictions: 1. Those wishing to park together must arrive together. 2. Space changing will not be permitted. All vehicles must park as directed by parking personnel. 3. Confirmation of your reservation will be sent if you enclose a stamped, selfaddressed envelope. 4. All personal generators must be turned off between 11 pm and 6 am daily. 5. All tag vehicles will be required to purchase a tag vehicle pass ($20.00 for the weekend). 6. Tag vehicles must fit into assigned space (not in aisle), or be moved to day-ofshow parking area. 7. Any motor home over 40 long must have two spaces. 8. Any truck & trailer over 40 must have two spaces, or unhook; note on form. 9. All parking spaces are 22 wide by 35 long; over 35 will be parked in designated rows. 10. No foul or abusive language will be tolerated; anyone not following parking rules will be asked to leave, and no refunds will be given. 11. No parking fee refunds will be made after close of entries.
