Deadline for submissions is end of the month. Send news to bkcnewsletter@gmail.com Notices for community events may require prior BKC Board approval. Badger Bits articles are printed for general interest and entertainment value. Author s views do not necessarily represent the policies of Badger Kennel Club (BKC), nor does their publication constitute an endorsement by BKC. AKC Delegate: Judi Roller judi002@centurytel.net Note from the Editor Please send only information for the newsletter to: bkcnewsletter@gmail.com. I only check that email twice a month - once to send out a request for news, brags and photos, and again to see what has been submitted for the next month s newsletter. I have belatedly seen emails to bkcnewsletter@gmail.com which were intended to be immediate announcements to the general membership. Because I do not check the account, that information did not go out. I tried to add a automatic message reminding senders that items sent to bkcnewsletter@gmail.com were for the Bits only. Some have taken offense as if this automatic reply indicated that their announcement was not good enough for the newsletter. It was simply intended to remind senders that if something needs to go out to the membership ASAP, it must be emailed elsewhere. I have deleted the auto response and apologize for the confusion. Denine Ackerbauer, Bits Editor

President s Message Preparations are underway for the Dairyland Classic on Friday/Sunday May 4 & 6. All members are expected to contribute to this important BKC event. There are generally 1000-1500 dogs and their people there over the weekend so it's a great place to see a variety of the dog breeds and meet and talk with breeders and handlers. The vendors are always fun to visit and its a great time to build up hours for participation and Member Rewards! badgerkennelclub.com/dairyland-classic-2/ Also like the show Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/dairylandclassicdogshowbkc/ BKC also needs members for the Nominating Committee to make nominations for the President's role and 2 open board member positions. Consider helping BKC move forward in positive directions by becoming a board member. Lynda Nelson BKC President General Membership Meeting April 19, 2018 ACUPRESSURE for your pet's health! Thanks in advance. Terry Lendved Badger Kennel Club Dog Show Chair 608.347.4537 bkcshowchair@gmail.com BKC Obedience and Rally Trials March 17 & 18, 2018 A BIG THANK YOU Thank you to everyone who helped make our March 17 & 18 Obedience and Rally Trial a great success: Trial secretary Marijane Reich; Trial Committee Joan Provencher, Ellen Blitz, Denine Ackerbauer, Kari Kenefick (Obedience chair) and Tonya Scribner (Rally chair); table stewards Barb Duren, Julie Luther and Lynn Montgomery; ring stewards Susan Banoivez, Dawn Christenson, Mark Scribner, Shirley Cunningham, Kim Lohman, Cindy Brosig, Ruth Brosig, Ellen (Ferch) Hottmann, Karen Johnson and Nancy Burger. Also Jennifer Larson and Jane Pomerville who helped us set up on Friday and everyone who stayed on Sunday to help us put the building back together. As you can see it takes a village to put on a trial. Please consider helping in the future. My sincerest thanks to all, Judy Donmoyer, Trial Chair

In the Ribbons and Other Milestones From Carol Mahlik: Poppy"Jetoca's March To Victory" was entered in the 12-15 month puppy class at Badger Kennel Club AKC Sanctioned B Match on March 24th. Poppy placed 1st in her class, took Group 1 placement and went Best of Breed. We had a fun time, proud of my little girl for only her 3rd time in the ring. Fr0m Chris Reents: Bogie (Dichi Here s Looking At You, Kid) was Best Adult In Match at the 3/24/18 annual Badger Kennel Club AKC Sanctioned B Match under Judge Lisa Sons. From Kelly White: Happy 11th Birthday to my spunky senior. You are as sassy and lovable as the day you came into our lives. From Jesse Krantz: Bandit is getting better at his herding & is trying to finish both trick & community canine tests soon. We both plan on coming to this April monthly meeting.

From Sue Anderson: Belgian Terv, Jigger, earned back to back Preferred UDX legs at the Great Lakes Belgian Tervuren Regional Speciality on 3/10 & 3/11. He now has 8 P-UDX legs and needs two more for his title. Attached is a picture of the broad jump. "Look Mom, no wings!" From Deb Hamele: March 9th at Forest City Dog Training Club s agility trial SHR Dunn s Marsh Cinderella Story RA JH NAJ TKN (Ella) finished both her Open JWW and Novice Standard titles with 1st places. Dunn s Marsh Chocolate Martini CD RE SH TKN NAJP (Marti) finished her Open JWW preferred title with a 1st place. March 24 and 25 we had great days at the Cudahy KC Barn Hunt Trials with 5 dogs earning Q s in various events. GRCH CH Honorbright Dunn s Marsh Song and Dance SH RATS (Maks) and his 9 month old daughter Dunn s Marsh Mirror Ball (Tango) both finished titles with not just first places but High in Class. High in Class means fastest time of all sizes and breeds. Maks finished his Master Barn Hunt Title and Tango finished her Novice Barn Hunt Title her first weekend in competition. Maks also got two Rally Novice legs at the BKC March Rally trials and Ella got two Excellent Rally legs.

DUNN'S MARSH ALL THAT JAZZ JH, CD, GN, RAE 6, OA, NAJ, OF, WC, RAT0 NAC TG-N WV-O TN-E - 11/2/2002 to 3/2/2018. Jazz was my partner until she retired from competition at age 13 only because her body dictated that she do so as her heart would have kept her competing by my side. She loved agility (could have been a MACH with a different handler) but she sure taught me a lot and has made me become a much better handler and partner to her successors. If there were weave poles anywhere she would eagerly run through them barking with joy. She loved retrieving, heeling with me in obedience and rally and she loved barn hunt. Most importantly she loved me and until I couldn't help her up anymore she slept beside me on the bed. There is a huge hole in my heart and even though there are other dogs in my life including her wonderful daughter, River and her great, great niece Tango, I will always miss her. Deb Hamele
