Small LHO dogs will jump first and the jumps will be raised progressively up to Large Full Height. Societies may schedule classes other than those defined above as Special classes. The eligibility for Special classes must be defined by the Society and included in the schedule. The word Special must be included in the title of the class. Where special classes are classified for older and/or inexperienced dogs, the height of the hurdles, the A-ramp, and the dog walk, and the length of the long jump, may be reduced below the dimensions specified in these regulations, in which case such dimensions must be included in the class definition in the show schedule. Marking for special classes may deviate from marking for standard classes, but must be specified in the schedule. Wins, places and clear rounds in special classes will not count towards agility warrant points or grade progression at Kennel Club shows. SWAT SOUTH WEST JUNIOR CHALLENGE The aim of this competition is to promote agility and encourage Junior Handlers in the South West. The 2018 Final will be held at the SWAT Summer Show on 4 th August 2018. Heats to be held at: Carn Brea 8 th April 2018 SWAT 28 th May 2018 Cornwall 7 th July 2018 Sherborne Vale 22 nd July 2018 South Devon 29 th July 2018 There will be a separate competition for under 9s and 9 and over up to 16 years. All heats and the Final will consist of a Jumping Course for all heights and with all heights (including LHO) competing against each other. 6

AWARDS Prizes will be awarded as follows: all classes: 1 st place 30-50 in class 2 nd place over 50 in class 3 rd place Placed rosettes to approximately 10% of the entry and for all unplaced clear rounds in all classes. If you are unable to stay to collect your rosette(s) please provide a stamped and addressed envelope if you wish for them to be posted. ELIGIBILITY FOR CLASSES In the following definitions of classes First Prizes or other prize wins are those gained in standard classes at any Kennel Club licensed Championship Agility, Premier Agility, Open Agility or Limited Agility Shows (i.e. special classes and invitational events excepted). Only a first place with a clear round completed within the course time set by the judge will count towards grade progression. Standard classes may be scheduled for Agility Shows, as Agility classes or Jumping classes. All standard classes must contain the Weaving Poles obstacle. Standard Agility classes must contain the following elements: A Ramp, Dog Walk and See-Saw. With this proviso classes are defined as follows:- Class Structure. A Class may either be held as a Graded Class or a Combined Class. A Graded Class may be scheduled for one or more consecutive Grades with separate results and awards issued for each grade. A Combined Class may be scheduled for more than one consecutive grade with one overall set of results. Progression. Progression from each Grade will require one Agility win or three Jumping wins in standard classes at that grade, at either Full Height or the Lower Height Option, except that progression from Grade 5 will require 3 wins at Grade 5, one of which must be an agility class. Progression from Grade 6 will require 4 wins at Grade 6, two of which must be agility classes. Results from Combined Classes will only count towards progression from the dog s current grade. Lower Height Option. Societies may offer the Lower Height Option to all dogs in that height category and may be offered at all grades. It is to be run as part of any Standard class as defined in the regulations and must be clearly identified in the schedule. Each relevant class will have two heights with a change part way through to raise/lower the jump heights and competitors must run at their entered height. The order in which the heights will run must be detailed on the ring cards/ring plan. There will be only one course walking at the start of the class. In a class where the Lower Height Option is available show organisers may offer one set of awards by combining the results of each height or may offer separate awards for each height category. Competitors will be allowed to walk the course set at Small, Medium or Large height without their dog(s) before the class begins. Hurdles may be raised/lowered during the course walking time if multiple heights are offered within the same class. When the Lower Height Option is scheduled a dog may only be entered at either the Full Height or the Lower Height and it cannot compete at a different height in any other class at that competition, including special classes. For these purposes a competition shall be defined as all classes covered within the same schedule. Points Progression. At the handler s discretion a dog may progress up to Grade 4 by winning 100 points at each grade, using the Agility Warrant points scheme (Regulation K3.c refers), except that there is no requirement for a minimum number of agility points. If this method of progression is selected, the handler must ensure the Show Secretary signs the dog s Agility Record Book at the first show entered at the higher grade. There is no time limit on this progression, however once a dog has progressed, it cannot return to a previous grade. Progression on points must be done prior to the closing date of entries. It is not possible to change a grade on points once the entries have closed. 7

STANDARD CLASSES Only first prizes and points gained in standard classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows may be used for progression through the classes. (A dog is only eligible for one grade). The dog will then be moved into the appropriate class(es) for the next grade. The dog must be moved into the corresponding number of classes as were entered at the lower grade. If there are fewer or no classes available for the next grade the competitor will be offered a refund of the relevant entry fees. 24. Should circumstances so dictate SWAT, in consultation with the Judges, may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them will be reported to the Kennel Club. 9

25. In the event that the show is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the society will refund fees, less reasonably incurred expenses. If the show processor has the provisions to do so, competitors will be refunded in the manner in which they had entered the show, but in any event the society will refund fees within 3 months of the show date to all those who had entered and requested a refund within 1 month of the show date. 26. In case of cancellation of the show within seven days of the show date, notification will be sent to the relevant web sites and posted on applicable Facebook groups where possible. It will be the competitor's responsibility to check with these services if continuation of the show is in doubt. 27. Except for mobility aids, nothing shall be carried in the hand while the dog is under test and food shall not be given to a dog whilst in the ring. Competitors are prohibited from wearing bags or leads whilst under test. 28. Should the judge deem a re-run is required, any result and/or faults gained in the previous run must be discounted. 29. Separate entry forms must be completed by each owner and must signed by the owner or his authorised agent in accordance with provisions specified thereon. Entry forms must be accompanied by the appropriate fees. 30. Competition of Dogs Suffering from Contagious or Infectious Disease No dogs suffering from infectious or contagious disease or having been exposed to such disease during the period of 21 days prior to the Competition may compete. Competitors infringing the Regulation will be liable to be fined and/or dealt with under Kennel Club Rule A11. 31. It is the competitor s responsibility to be available for their class and running order. Competitors must run as close to their running order as possible. Failure to do so may be reported to the Kennel Club. 32. Handlers working more than one dog in a class must ensure that the dogs compete in the sequence in which they are drawn. Failure to do so may result in elimination. 33. Animals in Event No animal other than one officially entered shall be brought into the precincts of the event during its continuance, except any dogs registered to assist the disabled, or dogs required for educational or instructional purposes or by permission of the General Committee. 34. A pay on the day class will be held if time permits. 35. A practice ring may be available to dogs entered for competition at the show, if space allows. This ring must be supervised by a responsible adult with agility knowledge. 36. Welfare of Dogs An exhibitor (or competitor) whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not knowingly put their dogs health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. A breach of this Regulation may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any Agility show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue and within the precincts of the show. 37. The owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at the Test must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the Venue including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. 38. When not competing, dogs must be leashed at all times unless in a designated exercise or warm up area. 39. Competitors briefing will be held prior to the start of each class, when they will be allowed to walk the course but without the dog accompanying them. 40. All dogs are entered at their owner s risk and, whilst taking every care, SWAT cannot be held responsible for any damage, loss or injury caused to dogs, persons or property whilst at the Test. 41. Competitors must follow the instructions of the Stewards with respect to parking and conduct within the Test boundaries and any person directing abuse to Stewards or Officials will be asked to leave the venue immediately. 42. Any owner, handler or the person in charge of the dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) within the venue. Anyone failing to remove fouling will be asked to leave the venue immediately. 10

HELP! Without competitors help it would not be possible to run a large show. The more helpers we have, the less time anyone needs to spend helping and the more time they can spend with their dogs. If you are working on a ring and are worried about missing your run on another ring, please tell the caller where you are so you can be contacted if necessary before the class closes. Helpers working all day will receive a lunch voucher. All helpers working half a day will receive a Practice Ring voucher. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please return this slip with your Entry Form Name of Helper: We will be using e-gility so fewer helpers are required and/or helpers are not required to help for as long as in the past. But the show does still need people to help or it cannot run. Group/Judge/Ring? At what times? Which days? All day / Morning / Afternoon Saturday / Sunday / Monday 11
